I have the pleasure to thank all KOTC employees for their unflagging efforts they make at work for realizing our objectives and aspirations. I would also like to congratulate you on KOTC attaining for the 8th consecutive year the 1st position in the referendum conducted by the State Audit Bureau on KPC and subsidiaries performance. We have previously retained this position for the last 7 years.KOTC’S continuous achievement of this advanced position confirms the company management's eagerness on cooperation with different state institutions and meeting all their demands. We owe the result of our performance to our employee’s keen follow up and review and taking necessary steps to rectify and avoid re-occurrence of these remarks which have met with the satisfaction of the State Auditors. This year saw development of relation between our company and the State Audit Bureau in that some measures have been placed to give chance for further information, discussion and exchange of ideas. It is the first time that 9 meetings were held between the two sides during FY ending 2015/2016, thus helping increase communication and clarity of vision resulting in addressing most remarks given by the Auditors towards the company. We wish this good relation would continue for upgrading KOTC business and position. During this year, KOTC pursued recovering financially and possessed a number of modern tankers which increased the efficiency and competitive capacity of our fleet in the international market and provided the best maritime services for KPC clients. Awareness campaign on importance of safety onboard KOTC tankers launched

Aimed at assessment of hazards and avoidance of accidents

Keeping the above in mind the KOTC- Fleet Operations Directorate (Operation, Engineering & Personnel) Groups would like to announce the launch of: “The Safety Awareness Campaign Onboard it’s Vessels”.Experience at sea, and ashore in shipping industry, has made it clear that the major

issue affecting the shipping industry as “accident” today is mostly attributed to the cause “human element” mainly due to negligence of identifying the “Hazard”. Most of the “accidents” we see recurring, and inevitably are rooted in the more unfortunate consequences of human behavior and because

the crew had failed to walk through the task of proper “Risk Assessment” technique. It’s the time one should help convert the belief that our officers and crews are no more our “greatest hazard”. In fact the more accurate view is that they are our“greatest asset”.This “Safety Awareness

Superintendent in charge of tanker operation will set sail onboard the tanker to get closely informed of the daily routine work

Campaign” has been initiated with a view to contribute towards improving the safety culture onboard, implementing at all levels starting from the top. Analysis of shipping disasters in recent years has produced an increasing awareness the importance of the aspect “Risk Assessment”.It is now vital to connect “HUMAN ISSUSE” & the “BUSINESS SUCCESS” for those who make their living from the shipping industry. The key reason behind this Safety Awareness Campaign, is to tackle the “Risk Assessment” issue that causes any accidents. Starting from the grass root level and it has been initiated, whereby the respective Superintendent’s will be sailing along with their ship staff for 5-10 days to assist the Command with their departmental heads for the implementation, monitor and assist in training of the ship staff, and ensure the success of this campaign. The Superintendents will also check the skills and management

system onboard, the crew response to “Near Miss” and “Unsafe Act” reporting. The old wisdom told us to focus on Navigation, Engineering and Regulations. The infusion of behavioral psychology into safety, which means an introduction of Behavior-Based Safety concept is now under way as it is rightly said “the best way to change others behavior is to change your own”We need not emphasize the effectiveness of our safety drills being backed up by a De-briefing and feedback session, later reported under the monthly safety meeting’s agenda. The contribution from the fleet in the form of a feedback will be monitored within their framework to confirm its effectiveness. It is worth mentioning, this is a step for boosting the “Safety Awareness Culture” within our fleet. It will help us efficiently to improve the level of safety awareness, also an effective tool to change the culture among our fleet and to create a global impact. We hope the floating

staff will be highly benefited by this launch, will help us in achieving the industry’s highest Safety standards.Along with safety awareness it will help in “Mentoring” a valuable activity in the maritime industry. All management heads are encouraged to share their expertise by engaging in mentoring relationships whenever possible. To disseminate and preserve our organizations experiences. This will benefit all participants and to the industry as a whole. To be successful over the long term we are in a process to pave the road towards “Zero Injuries”We are in a continuous process of training and empowering our workforce appropriately, this will create ownership around safety by identifying the “Hazard” before an accident occurs.Last but not the least, we have the pleasure to thank all our floating staff for their great support and efforts they have extended at work in today’s competitive international market.

Campaign will be an effective tool realizing highest safety standards that will be internationally traced by marine industry
