Community Service ~ 2013 Indigo Tea ~
On Saturday, April 27 approximately 20 residents at Indigo Manor enjoyed an afternoon, of food, fun and
entertainment. The tables were decorated in spring colors and each of the guests received individual gifts to take along
back to their rooms. A beautiful array of food was served to them by the Pilots. Residents listened to violin music by
Kelly Ceiler and sang along with our Tea Pot, Moe Durham. Hats were presented to several of the ladies including one
resident at age 105 and another at 103. The lady who was born furthest away (Sweden) received a gift of Mary Kay as
well. Leanne took photos of those who wanted them of the resident and Ms. Tea Pot. It was a nice event and included
many thank yous from those in attendance. The Tea at Indigo to honor our area Seniors is one of several wonderful
afternoons that the Pilots of the Halifax Area participate in. The work was made light by many helping hands. Thank
you to all who brought food, drink, gifts, supplies, and were present to make the day so special.

Dollars & Cents
Greeting Pilots, It is time to pay your dues for 2013-14. I have to send checks to Pilot Int’l and
Florida District before June 1 for your dues. We need to have your commitment now for the coming Pilot year. As a reminder (just in case your dues notice has been misplaced) the amount for the year is $110.00. On a brighter note, we still have money in the budget that has not been requested. According to my records the areas still outstanding are Council on Aging respite program, DSC Center for Women and Men, Mentor Program at Palm Terrace, Anchor Club contribution, Hospice Grief Counseling, Operation “Helmets” . The total is $1,600.00 for these projects. If you are an Area Leader and have not requested a check for any of the above commitments, please contact me so arrangements can be made for the check and presentation of the funds at a meeting. We are getting ready to begin work on the 2013-14 Budget. The Budget Committee consists of the current Treasurer, incoming Treasurer, President, President Elect, Vice President and Division Coordinators. The Division Coordinators will be responsible to keep in contact with the areas in the Division regarding their requests for project funds. The date and time of the first budget meeting will be announced as quickly as possible.
Your Dollar Diva,
Diane Welch

At our April program meeting Tomoka
Elementary students, Haley Welsh and Demtri Andreoulas entertained
us with their winning reenactment of "A Stop on the Pony Express Trail." These wonderful students had their own
entourage of proud parents, aunts & grandparents. Once more giving our club the opportunity to show
what being a Pilot is all about. They even took home a couple of applications for membership.
Our club awarded each 4th grade student with a check for $100.00. Next year when the Social
Studies Fair comes along make sure you sign up to help judge this wonderful event for the students of Volusia County. You
will not regret it!!! In Continuing Pilot
Education, Holly Inglett
Well it was a productive session on April 18th ! We met, brainstormed, shared, and
refined until we came up with wonderful projects and fundraising ideas for the
2013/2014 year. Among many worthwhile causes, Reins of Hope and Easter Seals
Autism program prevailed, thanks to our Health and Safety Committee. Our Public
Relations Committee will be busy promoting our club through Facebook, the Media, and pictures. Of
course, we will enjoy our International dinner at Father Lopez, where we are sure to snag some new
member interest via our Membership Committee. We will continue to support Brain Health and
Awareness through the scholarship efforts of our Education Committee. Our Indigo Tea and Halloween
parties are still with us, conducted by our Community Service Committee. Our Holiday Tea, Game
Events, Spring Galas, Bowling, and many more money generating events
were supported. And of course, we thank Diane Welch for our great
boxed dinners through Heavenly Ham. Thank you to all who attended
and helped us plan for an exciting and generous year.
President-Elect, JoEllen
