Scotties face Shepherd in Divisional Softball Tourney opener The Scotty softball team is hosting the Divisional B-C Softball Tournament at Sullivan Park which gets underway this Friday with Glasgow facing Shepherd at 9:00 a.m. 8th-seeded Colstrip has opted out which gives Huntley Project a
first-round bye. Speaking of Huntley, the Scotties got a little revenge from that loss here in Glasgow on May 9th, knocking off the Red Devils 6-5 on their home turf this past weekend. Their highly successful southern trip also included victories over Billings
West JV 8-3, Conrad 1-0, Shepherd 14-4, and a pair over Colstrip 14-4 and 13-1. Hopefully Glasgow can use the homefield advantage and keep the momentum rolling. The State B-C Tournament is in Great Falls May 30-31.
The Scotty infielders have a little meeting at the mound. The divisional bracket is inside today’s Buzz.

Real Life Wisdom
This past Sunday the Glasgow Reds American Legion baseball team traveled to Havre for a non-conference doubleheader with the North Stars. While this was the first game of the season for the Reds, the North Stars already had four games in. Havre came from behind and captured the 8-7 win in game one over the young Glasgow B squad. The Glasgow A lineup then defeated the North Stars 13-1. So the Reds A squad is 1-0, Reds B 0-1, while the North Stars are 2-4 overall. Glasgow Reds A team will have a double header in Glendive on Sunday, June 1st, and will then host the Blue Devils on Monday, June 2nd. Both the A and B teams will be back in Havre for a tournament June 6-8.

A new affordability study shows the cost of attending Montana State University and the University of Montana rose 55 percent in the last 10 years. The only good news to this (if you can call it good) is that this is going up slowly compared to other states. Deputy commissioner for planning and analysis Tyler Trevor says other states have raised tuition up to 200 percent in the past decade. The average increase among 14 western states was 110 percent. Montana has kept its costs relatively low by freezing tuition in some years and imposing modest tuition hikes in others.

VOTE KULCZYK for JUSTICE of the PEACE My name is Ronnie Kulczyk of Glasgow, and I am running for Justice of the Peace. I strongly believe there is a loop in the justice system and I plan to fix it. I may not have the experience with the law, or background in the court systems like some of my fellow candidates, but I strongly believe I am the right fit for the job. Sometimes it isn’t always best to have a background and experience; we need new blood in that position with a clear outlook to change things. My main goal is to be fair, I want to make sure that everyone is treated the same. I have heard many times that someone was treated unjustly by the judge because they weren’t liked or because of whom their family was. I myself know how it feels to be judged by someone without them even knowing who I am or what I believe. I have lived in this community my whole life and love being a part of it. I want to protect the citizens of this community and make it a safe place for children to grow up in and become our future leaders. I have two children of my own; they need a good example of how the justice system should work. If you have any questions, concerns or suggestions, feel free to contact me by phone, email or my Facebook page. My phone number is 263-2377 and my email is [email protected]. My Facebook page is Ronald W Kulczyk for Justice of Peace.

Rebeka’s RoyaltyThe Valley County Kindergarten Contest, sponsored by Rebekah Lodge #19, held a Royal luncheon for all the contestants this past Saturday and the winners were announced. Why is the region of the U.S. known as New England so important when all six of those states put together would fit in to an area smaller than North Dakota? Perhaps it is the combined population of New England of more than thirteen and a half million, more than twenty times that of North Dakota! The New England states are
Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island. Each of these, with the exception of Vermont, have more than a million citizens with Massachusetts leading the way with nearly six and a half million. However, we would be willing to wager that North Dakota has higher oil production than those six states combined!
