Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord (Year B)

Ang Pagkayab sang aton Ginoong Jesukristo sa Langit nagpatimaan sang pagtakup sang Iya misyon diri

sa kalibutan nga iwali kag palapnagon ang Maayong Balita sang Ginharian sang Dios, kag ini nga pagkayab nahimo kag nasaksihan sang Iya napulo kag isa ka Apostoles pagkatapos Niya imandu ang pagpadayon sang ila misyon sa pagwali sang Maayong Balita para sa kaluwasan sang tanan nga katawhan (Mk 16:15). Ini pagapadayunon tubtob sa sini nga mga panahon kag sa katubtuban sang kalibutan sanglit madamo pa gid ang wala makabati, makahibalo kag nagapati.

Sadto nga panahon, ang pagbantala sang Ebanghelyo ginhimo sang mga apostoles kag mga gintuton-an paagi sa pagpanglakaton, pagpanakayon sa mga malayo kag maligwin nga mga duog. Nagwali man sila sa mga sinagoga, higad sang suba, bakante nga lugar, kag sa mga binukid. Sa indi nila malab-ot nga duog, ginapadalhan nila sang sulat ang ila mga kaupod agud mabasa sa mga natungdan ang Ebanghelyo ukon ang Maayong Balita sang kaluwasan.

Amo ini ang madali nga pamaagi sa Social Media. Mahapos kag madasig ang pagpakig-angot (communication) paagi sa Facebook, Twitter kag Instagram, sa pagpasanyog sang pagbantala sang Maayong Balita.

Sa sini nga bagay ginasaulog man naton ang kap-atan kag siyam nga pagsukat sang World Communicaton Day. Ang subong nga tema amo ang, “Pamilya bilang lugar sang Pagtabuay nga may dala nga Paghigugma”. Amo ini ang kaundan sang mensahe ni Pope Francis.

Ang Santo Papa naghambal nga ang modern media importante nga bahin sang aton kabuhi, ilabi na gid sa mga pamatan-on kag makabulig sa komunikasyon sang mga pamilya, apang kon indi husto ang paggamit, makadala ini sang kalaglagan sa tagsa-tagsa. Makahalit ini kon ang paggamit wala nagahatag sang kahigayunan sa pagpamati sa iban, kon ginagamit sa pagpalikaw ukon pagpahilayo sa paghilapitanay kag pagtamdanay kag sa indi na paghatag sang oras ukon tini-on sa pagpahuway, paghipos ukon pagpakalinong.

9. Para sa mga katoliko, ang kasal isa ka Sakramento.

Ang kasal indi nahanungod sa istorya sang paghigugmaanay sa tunga sang isa ka lalaki kag babayi kag nagkabuhi sing dayon nga malipayon tubtob sa katubtoban,

Sa Daan nga kasugtanan ang Dios nagsiling nga sia magakari kag Sia amo ang manginnobyo sang iya mga tawo. Si Jesus naggamit sang laragway sang kasal sa iya mga pagpanudlo.

Gintawag niya ang iya kaugalingon nga “nobyo” kag ang iya mga sumolunod nga “nobya”. Si San Pablo nagsiling nga ang mga bana dapat maghigugma sa ila asawa “subong nga si Kristo naghigugma sa simbahan”. Iya pirme gin-gamit ang imahen sang kasal sa iya paghambal nahanungod sa simbahan nga amo ang “nobya ni Kristo.” Ini nagakahulogan nga ang kasal sang tawo nagaangot sa aton sa misteryo ni Kristo kag sang iya simbahan. Paagi sa sakramento sang kasal, matun-an naton kon ano ang paghigugma sang Dios. Paagi sa misteryo sang kasal, maka-eksperyensya kita sang paghiusa sang isa ka tumoluo sa kay Kristo Jesus mismo.

KONKLUSYONAmo ini ang mga rason kon ngaa ang

Simbahan nga Katoliko indi gid magtugot nga pasilabtan ang institusyon sang kasal, tungod kay kon kambiohan naton ang kinaugali sang kasal, ginakambiohan man naton ang aton paghangop sa aton kaluwasan. Kon kambiohan naton ang aton paghangop sa kasal, ginakambiohan man naton ang aton paghangop sa Dios kag sa iya simbahan. Amo ini ang rason kon ngaa batok kita sa pagpanginlalaki ukon pagpanginbabayi, pagpakighilawas sa gwa sang kasal, pag-updanay nga wala makasal, mga buhat nga homosexual, pagbaligya sang kaugalingon para sa kalingawan nga lawasnon, pornografiya, diborsyo, pagpakasal liwat samtang buhi pa ang una nga ginpakaslan, pag-angkon sang duha ka asawa ukon bana nga lunsay buhi pa, abuso sekswal, pagpanglugos, artipisyal nga pagpugong sang pagpamata kag ang iban pa nga nagaguba sang malahalon kag walay katapusan nga sakramento sang kasal.

Sa tapos nakon mahatag ang Napulo ka mga Importante nga bagay nga dapat mahibaloan sang isa ka katoliko nahanungod sa kasal, akon na sugoran sa masunod nga isyu ang paghatag kag pagpaathag sang mga ginatudlo sang Simbahan nahanungod sa sining dungganon kag dalayawon nga Sakramento sang aton Pagtuluohan – ang Sakramento sang Kasal.

Sa aton pagsaulog sang Catholic Communications Sunday, akon nadumduman ang akon eksperyensiya

“K adto kamo sa bug-os nga kalibutan kag ipahayag ang Ebanghelyo sa

tanan nga mga tinuga.” Amo ini ang mandu ni Ginoong Jesus sa iya mga gintutun-an sa wala pa Sia makakayab, ang Iya katapusan nga pamilinbilin kag ang ginsuguran sang misyon sang Iya mga gintuton-an. Samtang patimaan na ini sang pagbiya ni Jesus sa ila, nangin labing mahimayaon ini sa ila tungod sang Iya presensya, upod sa ila sa tanan nga tion, tubtub sa katubtuban. Sa Iya pagkayab sa Langit kag paglingkod sa tuo sang Dios nga Amay, nagtug-an man Sia nga magapadala Sia sing Espiritu Santo sa paghatag sa ila sang kaalam kag kaisug sa pagbantala sang Maayong Balita.

Makapila man ka beses nga ginpatuhoyan ni San Marcos ang indi pagtuo ukon pagpati sang Iya mga disipulos nahanungod sang Iya pagkabanhaw. Ini tungod luyag niya ipahangop sing maayo sa aton ining duha ka bagay: una, ang pagtuo kay Jesus nagagikan man sa pagtuo sang tawo nga nagahatag sang pamatuod –nagapati kita kon

Ang katuyoan sang pagpahayag sang Ebanghelyo amo ang paghiliusa sang tanan nga mga tinuga sa palibut sang Anak sang Dios nga nangin-tawo - paagi sa

gahum sang iya Espiritu. Ang Ginuo nagsiling: “Indi kamo magkahadlok, ang akon Simbahan indi isa ka palanagu-an batok sa kalibutan, sa mga panulay kag mga palaligban sini, sa baylo, ang tagsa sa inyo ginbunyagan agud mangin apostoles.”

Ang tanan nagahandum sang maayo nga pangabuhi. Sa pihak

sang mga pagtilaw nga naeksperyensyahan, kita nagapabilin nga nagatib-ong sang kauswagan. Ang kalabanan nagapangabudlay para maangkon ang kahilwayan. Dako gid ang aton pagpati nga ang edukasyon ang yabi sa pagbag-o sang bwasdamlag. Ginahimo sang mga ginikanan ang mga butang sa ila masarangan agud padayon nga mapaeskwela ang ila mga kabataan.

Lain-lain ang mga rason kon ngaa sa pihak sang mga sakripisyo sang mga iloy kag amay, madamo man gihapon sang mga pamatan-on sa subong ang wala makatapos sa ila pagtuon. May 13, 2015. In his weekly general audience, Pope Francis focused on the family. He highlighted the three

phrases that should often be said to foster respect: May I? thank you and pardon me.

The three phrases are more than just good manners, explained the Pope, they are a way to renew trust in family life.

Dear Brothers and Sisters, Today I would like to continue our

catechesis on the family by reflecting on three phrases: “May I?”, “Thank you”, and “Pardon me”. These simple phrases are not so easy to say or to put into practice. But

when they are ignored, their absence can cause cracks in the foundation of the family, which can lead to its collapse.

If these words are part of our daily lives, not just as a formal expression of good manners, but as a sign of deep love for one another, they strengthen a happy family life. “May I?” – even if we think we have the right to something, when we speak to our spouse or family member with kindness we create space for a true spirit of marital and familial common life.

We renew trust and respect, revealing our love for others, and we allow them to open the door of their hearts to us. “Thank you” – our society has great need for

gratitude, which makes us more sensitive to the dignity of the human person and the demands of social justice. Thankfulness is also the language of God, to whom above all we must express our gratitude.

“Pardon me” – Without these words, hurt can develop in our relationships, and weaken our life as a family. But when we ask forgiveness, we show our desire to restore what was lost – respect, honesty, love – and healing between family members is made possible. “May I?”, “Thank you”, “Pardon me” – Let us ask the Lord to keep these three phrases in our hearts, our homes and our communities.

MANILA, May 13, 2015 – All stakeholders should work together to protect overseas Filipinos who

can be found in 196 countries worldwide.This was the collective sentiment of

Philippine Red Cross chairman Richard J. Gordon, Migrante Deputy Secretary-General Sol Pillas, Philippine Migrant Rights Watch President Mel Nuqui during the “Tapatan sa Aristocrat” on Monday.

Gordon said both private and government sectors make a lot of money from oversease placement fees and other dues levied on foreign-based workers.

He said recruitment agencies earn a lot from sending workers abroad and should at least be responsible for their deployed workers. He added the government earns from membership dues from Filipinos and they are likewise duty-bound to protect and represent migrant workers.

Lip service“Calling [OFWs] the new heroes is just

lip service,” the former senator said. He called on government to assist workers in difficult situations as in the Middle East and some other Asian countries.

Figures vary as to the number of actual overseas Filipinos. Some say there are 10 to 13 million overseas Filipinos, including migrants or permanent residents and undocumented workers.

Government data revealed nearly US$ 30 billion has been remitted by overseas Filipinos last year.

Pillas said during her 28 years as domestic worker in Hong Kong, she and her colleagues never saw a Filipino diplomat or attaché who provided needed guidance and counseling services.

“There was a woman who complained of sexual harassment and she was told by those in the consulate that she was victimzed because she was beautiful,” Pillas explained in Filipino.

C. Santos in an interview over Church-run Radio Veritas, this does not even begin to shed light on the sad state of so many families OFWs leave behind, who so often become the “collateral damage” for a chance at supposedly better socio-economic opportunities.

“What happens is that they are deprived of the proper guidance only their fathers and mothers can provide. This results in a ‘relationship absence’ between them and their OFW parents. Unfortunately, they will carry this over well into adulthood, causing them to diminish, even lose, respect and obedience to their fathers and mothers,” he explained.

There are times children of OFWs, Santos explained, are not guided properly. “No wonder, they often find themselves in bad company. They look up to people who are not really the most qualified to set good

examples as role models,” the prelate added.Mel Nuqui who also works for DAWN,

a non-government organization assisting former entertainers sent to Japan, said at the height of the entertainment industry, there were at least 80,000 young Filipinas, most of whom had dreams that remained unrealized due to unfortunate experiences in the highly-industrialized country.

Depression among OFWsDr. Benny Vicente, former director of the

government-run National Center for Mental Health in Mandaluyong City said depression usually sets in when overseas workers end their so-called “honeymoon stage,” when they are quite new to a different work environment.

However, all these change to depression when they are abused, are no longer allowed to use mobile phones and tables, or when contracts are altered, which means reduction in remuneration.

“Even their children left behind would suffer, especially when left to the care of their grandparents who can no longer cope with the active play and movements of three to six year-old children,” Dr. Vicente said.

Gordon said while it is both a privilege and right to seek employment elsewhere, this should be coupled with responsibility as he call on government to institute HIV testing to prevent the upsurge of the virus in the Philippines.

All the panelists believe overseas employment will continue within the next five to ten years as it will not be easy for government and the private sector to curb unemployment and underemployment which is pegged at about 27 million.

“Unless all stake holders will work for a miracle to significantly reduce unemployment and underemployment, the country will continue to see its citizens leave for abroad,” Gordon said. (Melo M. Acuña/CBCPNews)

Adolescence is considered formative stage. It is when puberty kicks in and rapid changes in all aspects

take place. Moreover, during this development phase, a young person is usually bombarded with a lot of questions about his life. At the same time, he may be confronted with a lot of dilemmas to face, different struggles to overcome, and circumstances or conditions to get used to. Because of these factors that confront him proper guidance is very essential in his life. As a young person myself, I can attest to these facts. However, I also believe that more than just having somebody to guide us, we, young people, acknowledge that we must develop an intimate relationship with God.

To be confused and confronted with problems seem to be heavy and pretty much normal to happen. It may be a bit difficult for us, young people since we hardly know what life is than from those who are ahead of us in years and experience. Nevertheless, whatever emotional turmoil we may experience at this point of our lives, these should not be an excuse for us to withdraw or make hasty decisions which we might regret later on.

We should learn to make use of our time by getting to know ourselves even more. Socrates points out, “An unexamined life is not worth living.” If we, ourselves do not know who we are and what we are

devotees, wore the habit patterned after Mama Mary’s miracles and accomplishments. I can still picture in my mind Our Lady of Lourdes, the Miraculous Medal, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, the Immaculate Concepcion, Our Mother of Perpetual Help and Our Lady of Dolors.

Although the Blessed Mother had undergone many sacrifices, there is nothing greater than the sufferings she had when she accompanied Jesus on His way to Calvary.

Her heart almost broke when she saw Jesus slump the fifty kilo platibulum – the horizontal beam of the cross on the shoulder of Jesus. A big wound appeared on His left shoulder – some of His flesh and clothes were torn. His feet were bare and were wounded and bled as He walked on the hot sand and the sharp stones. Awareness of oneself is our ticket to a good life and one of the ways to develop this, is to have an intimate relationship with our Lord through prayer. Prayer is our special moment of conversation or dialogue with our Lord either about our happiness, sadness or worries. We do not expect Him to respond verbally or have His angel sent from Heaven for His response. But, we are assured that He communicates with us through ideas or through confession. Just listen to Him intently in silence, feel His Presence in our daily activities.

Only our Lord knows us better, no one else! He even knows us better than ourselves because He created us. A Creator knows His creature more than anyone else like an inventor who knows even the minutest detail of his invention. That is why it is right and proper to be with Him at all times. Devoting time for meditation everyday enhances our ability to evaluate

ourselves - our thoughts and actions with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. This way, we are ensured we are anchored to His Will, and what a joy it is!

Sometimes, we young people are hesitant to talk with our Lord because we are afraid He might ask us something too difficult for us to give up. However, we should learn to be more open to His will since He is the only One who can fathom what is best for us. Whatever we might discover as His will for us later on, let us still keep calm and talk with Him more ardently. Pope Francis tells us, “Dear Young People, do not be afraid of making decisive choices in life; have faith; the Lord will not abandon you.”

To know ourselves even more is to dedicate time in fostering our relationship with our Lord who can help us resolve our tribulations. Just like any other human relationships which is strengthened by constant communication, so too, our filial relationship with God through prayer. May we, young people, learn to be more generous to our Lord who has given us our lives by heeding to His call as stated in the Gospel this Sunday: “Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to the whole creation.” May we do away with our selfish habits and learn to be concerned with others. We can always start doing so by making it a habit to talk with to our Lord in the Tabernacle every day!

of Thorns. Our Blessed Mother wanted to go to Him – wipe Him clean – and console Him, but she was not allowed by His executioners. Since she could not go near Him all she did was to extend her arms to Him, opened her palms and looked at Him with love and pity. The fifteen minute walk to Calvary, became two and a half hours. At twwlve o’clock noon, the Crucified Christ was hoisted on the top of Calvary and for some hours she stood at the foot of the cross with St. John, the beloved disciple.

Although the death of Jesus was her greatest grief, her heart also bleeds when she sees us indulged in worldly activities which are detrimental to our salvation.

The Blessed Mother is the Mother of all mankind. When Jesus was laid in the sepulchre, she was left in the world to help her sinful children go back to the arms of the Father. She doesn’t want us to enjoy in this world and suffer in the eternal world for all time.

This month of May is our chance to show our love and gratitude to our dearest Mother Mary. We take our small children

to Church everyday for one month to shower flowers for our Beloved Mother. She must be smiling in Heaven if she sees the shower of petals in the churches. We can also show our affection and gratitude by praying the Rosary everyday and praying the litany. If our earthly mothers protect us and care for us, the Mother of all Mothers – Our Blessed Mother, does the best.

God the Father gave us His Only Son, Jesus, to live and die for us. He gives us the Holy Spirit Who endows us with wisdom and a knowledge of our faith which is bridge to an eternity in the kingdom of salvation. God the Father gave us our Mother Mary who cares much for our salvation and our eternal joy in the Father’s house.

Let us therefore join hands and weave a crown of gratitude for the Blessed Mother. Let us create our own personal a “Flores de Mayo” by showering our petals of good deeds – creating an atmosphere of charity every time – everywhere.

Start making your crown now. No excuses. No loss of time. Fill your pot with the jewels of love for Mama Mary.
