Memorial Service for Harold Benson this Saturday

The life of our long-time mem-ber and friend Harold Benson will be celebrated at 3:00 P.M.

on Saturday, May 19, at the Corvallis Country Club.

Jennifer Moore, Program Manager of the Oregon Cascades West Council of Governments,

presented “Services for Veterans.”

• The mission of the Veterans Service Office is to help veterans navigate the system to receive their benefits. Assistants are accredited. • The programs are funded by Benton County, the Oregon Department of Veterans’ Affairs, Medicaid Match, among others. • Claims may include: * Pension for the veteran or his survivors

* Compensation for service-connected disabilities * Dependency compensation for families * Education * Burial • Over the years the Office of Veteran Services has helped veterans recover benefits of

over $25,000,000. • Contacts with veterans comes through walk-ins, in-office and out-of-office interviews,

networking with other agencies, public presentations, boards and committees, communi-ty initiatives, and referrals. The VSO works to get the word out about its services.

• Citizens can help publicize the programs by posting information on workplace bulletin boards or scheduling short informational presentations for staff.

VETERANS CONFIRM THAT VSO HELPS THEM CONQUER PROBLEMS
