First Baptist Church is a part of a larger family of Baptists. Next month will be the family reunions of the two national groups who partner with our church for a global ministry. Let me tell you about these meetings in case you would like to attend.

The Southern Baptist Convention – will be meeting in New Orleans, LA on June 19-20. Our church is entitled to send ten messengers to represent us at this meeting. If you would like to be a messenger to

the convention, please contact my Ministry Assistant, Kristi Taylor, at 428-9408 and she will share some information with you. You can also go to www.sbcannualmeeting.net for more information.

The Cooperative Baptist Fellowship – will be meeting in Ft. Worth, TX on June 21-22. There is no limit to the number who may attend this meeting, so you do not need to register with Kristi in order to attend. She can help you with some information, or you can go to www.thefellowship.info to register and gather more information.

For two years I have been chairing the 2012 Task Force for CBF with the assignment of developing a new organizational plan for our Fellowship. In May our recommendations received unanimous approval from the governing body known as the Coordinating Council. The meeting in Ft. Worth will be the time when the entire Fellowship votes on our presentation of a new plan for the structure of CBF. I will have some busy days in Ft. Worth, but look forward to the completion of this important task.

Our church supports both of these organizations with our money, prayers, and people. You make a choice on your offering envelope to determine how you want 10% of your offering to be directed for missions. If you do not select one of the boxes, then your offering is divided up according to the percentages represented by those who do check the boxes.

If you are interested in learning more about these annual “family reunions,” I will bring a denominational report on Wednesday night, June 27, during Prayer Meeting.

The Hallelujah Choir

The Hallelujah Choir will lead in worship for Prayer Meeting on June 6

with a program entitled “Lord, We Bring Our Gift of Music.”
