WELCOME: LOVE is risen! LOVE is risen in us! Alleluia! INTRODUCTION: The Resurrection of Mary
Gospel of Philip: circa 150-350 C.E. – Translated by Marvin Meyer The companion of the [saviour] is Mary of Magdala. The [saviour loved] her more than [all] the disciples, [and he] kissed her often on her [mouth]. The other [disciples] . . . said to him, “Why do you love her more than all of us?” The saviour answered and said to them,
“Why do I not love you like her? If a blind person and one who can see are both in darkness, they are the same. When the light comes, one who can see will see the light, and the blind person will stay in darkness.”
PRELUDE: Minuet in B Flat Major
by J. S. Bach

PRAYER OF THE DAY
Fragments of a distant past… Let us sift through the broken images of the story we long for… love…loss…grief…betrayal…pain…suffering…darkness…death piece by tattered piece… one by one, mismatched edges… eager for wholeness… repairing what we can… til LOVE rises from our mess… til LOVE rises from our mess… sifting, slowly sifting… til LOVE rises from our mess… Amen.
READING Gospel of Mary 4:1-5:3
When the BLESSED ONE had said this, he greeted them all. “Peace be with you!” he said. Acquire my peace within yourselves! Be on your guard so that no one deceives you by saying, ‘Look over here!’ or ‘Look over there!’ For the seed of true humanity exists within you. Follow it! Those who search for it will find it. Go then, preach the good news of the domain. Do not lay down any rule beyond what I ordained for you, nor promulgate law like the lawgiver, or else it will dominate you.” After he said these things, he left them. But they were destressed greatly. “How are we going to go out to the rest of the world to preach the good news about the domain of the seed of true humanity?” they said. “If they didn’t spare him, how will they spare us?”
Late Fragment
“Late Fragment” by Raymond Carver From A New Path to the Waterfall, Atlantic Monthly Press, 1989
And did you get what you wanted from this life, even so? I did. And what did you want? To call myself beloved, to feel myself beloved on the earth.

READING: Gospel of Mary: 5:4-7:6
Then Mary stood up. She greeted them all and addressed her brothers: “Do not weep and be distressed no let your hearts be irresolute. For his grace will be with you all and will shelter you. Rather we should praise his greatness, for he has joined us together and made us true human beings.” When Mary said these things, she turned their minds [to]ward the Good, and they began to [as]k about the wor[d]s of the Savi[our]. Peter said to Mary, “Sister, we know that the Saviour loved you more than any other woman. Tell us the words of the Saviour that you know, but which we haven’t heard.” Mary responded, “I will rep[ort to you as much as] I remember that you don’t know.” And she began to speak these words to them. She said, “I saw the Master in a vision and I said to him, ‘Master, I saw you today in a vision.” He said to me, “Congratulations to you for not wavering at seeing me. For where the mind is, there is the treasure. I said to him, “Master, how does a person who sees a vision see it—[with] the soul [or] with the spirit?’ The Saviour answered, “The [visionary] does not see with the soul or with the spirit, but with the mind which exists between these two—that is [what] sees the vision…

MUSIC Mary Magdalene Words: Lucy Nanson; Music: Tom Colvin: CHEREPONI
Gospel: Gospel of Mary 10:1-14 Andrew said, “Brothers and sisters, what is your opinion of what was just said? I for one don’t believe that the Saviour said these things, because these opinions seem to be different from his thought.” After reflecting on these ma[tt]ers, [Peter said], “Has the Saviour spoken secretly to a woman and not openly so that we would all hear? [Surely] he did [not wish to indicate] that [she] is more worthy than we are?” Then Mary wept and said to Peter, “Peter, my brother, what are you imagining about this? Do you think that I have made all this up secretly by myself or that I am telling lies about the Saviour?” Levi said to Peter, “Peter, you have a constant inclination to anger and you are always ready to give way to it. And even now you are doing exactly that by questioning the woman as if you’re her adversary. If the Saviour considered her to be worthy, who are you to disregard her? For he knew her completely and loved her devotedly. Instead, we should be ashamed and, once we clothe ourselves with perfect humanity, we should do what we were commanded. We should announce the good news as the Saviour ordered, and not be laying down any rules or making laws.” After he said these things, Levi left and began to announce the good news.

Holy Cross will NOT be receiving the Provincial Grant we had hoped for. Council is operating under the “Basic Budget” which was approved by the congregation. Currently we are running a DEFICIT of $7,385.31 which means we are eating into last year’s surplus in order to meet our commitments. Clearly, this is not sustainable. The Federal Payroll Subsidy is considerably less than last year and is due to expire in June. Several big-ticket expenses came due in the first quarter: Insurance, Lift maintenance, and several Online revenues will not be realized until the fall.
Please prayerfully consider your financial support. So, that together we can reduce our deficit.
