DO YOU KNOW?—Learning about Jesus’ Miracles
(answers next week)
1. Matthew 9: 1-8 This is the first miracle in the gospel of Matthew. Jesus heals a man who can-not move. What else does Jesus do?
2. Mark 1: 29-31 Peter’s mother in law got busy as soon as she was healed. What did she do?
3. Luke 6: 12-16 Jesus heals the leper (a person with leprosy). After that Jesus tells the leper to go to the priest. Find out more about this command by going to Leviticus 13: 9.
4. The miracle in John 6: 1-15 is often called the Feeding of the 5,000. This happened near the time of a great Jewish feast. Can you find out what feast it was? See verse 4.
OLD TESTAMENT FRIENDS—Abraham’s Big Family Abraham and his wife didn’t have any children. He asked God for a child.
God told him (Genesis 15:5) to try to count the stars in the sky. He would have THAT MANY descen-dants (children and grandchildren and on and on through the years).
Abraham and Sarah became the parents of Isaac. Isaac and his wife Rebecca became the parents of Esau and Jacob. When we name the “patriarchs,” we are talking about Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
Jacob went to a far away country, and settled there. He became the father of 12 sons and at least one daughter. These children had so many children of their own, that there became millions of de-scendents of Abraham. So you see, God kept his promise.

ST. BRENDAN WOMENS BOOK CLUB
May is the month for devotion to Our Lady so we se-
lected a book entitled Our Lady of Garabandel by
Judith Albright. Join us as we discuss the apparitions
of Mary in Garabandal, Spain in the early 60’s. Due
to the Memorial Day holiday, we will be meeting a
week earlier than normal. Please mark your calen-
dars for Monday, May 23rd. At 7:00 pm. We meet
in the Brendan House Dining Room. Call Berni at
425-485-4893 or Anneliese at 425-486-4225.
KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS CORNER
The Bothell Knights will be hosting the July 24th
Malawi Benefit Dinner at our Bothell Rental Hall.
Our Sister Parish committee wants to raise dona-
tions to help the representatives for St. Joseph
Parish in Malawi travel to the United States to
meet our St. Brendan parishioners. Tickets will
be available starting in late June.
Bothell Knights will be well represented at the
State Convention this weekend in Vancouver.
State leaders have asked that we display the “To
be a Patriot” award which we received in 2015
for our support, with the help of our parishes, to
Heartbeat Serving Wounded Warriors. At the
convention, we will also be selling dog bones to
help support Heartbeat’s latest therapy program,
K9 Healing Warriors.
Sadly, the Bothell 4th of July Parade will not have
a Knights of Columbus entry for the first time in
many years. No one has stepped forward to help
get a Knights’ entry ready.
LIBRARY CORNER It’s the Merry Month of May—Time
to give honor to Mary! The library
staff has pulled out several books
on Our Lady and placed them on
the cart in the Narthex. There are
more books on Mary and Marian devotions in the
library. She continues to call us to follow her Son.
We also have many children’s books on Mary.
Come on in. Check us out!

URGENT NEED FOR VOLUNTEERS FOR PRESENTATION OF THERESE:
A Story of a Soul The St. Brendan School Religion Committee is in need of volunteers strong
enough to help with the setup and removal of light/sound equipment, back-
ground sets and moving chairs to and from the raised platform in church.
This will involve moving equipment between the church and the equipment
truck. The same volunteers do not need to be available for both days. With
less then two weeks until the production, we do not have enough volunteers.
We need: 1) 3-4 volunteers on Thursday, May 19, from 2:30—6:00 pm. (may
take shorter amount of time. Even part-time is helpful) 2) 4 volunteers on
Friday, May 20, after the drama presentation is finished around 11:30 am for
about one hour. 3) Volunteers to help move the altar after the All-School
Mass and before the drama presentation on May 20th which starts around
10:00 am. If you can help or have questions, please contact Regan or
Susie Corwin at [email protected]
THÉRÈSE: THE STORY OF A SOUL Thérèse: The Story of a Soul, the moving, live production performed by ac-
tress Audrey Ahern and directed by Patti Defilippis of St. Luke Productions
will be presented at St. Brendan Church on Friday, May 20 at 10:00 am
after the All-School Mass with the school community. All parents, family,
parishioners and guests are invited. In this one-woman performance,
Therese speaks directly to you, the audience, with humor, grace and humil-
ity. Her honest, direct spirituality speaks powerfully to our busy culture with
the encouraging message that anyone can become a saint. The program is
filled with the elements of a professional theater, runs 75 minutes and is
suitable for all ages. Admission is free. Watch the trailer and learn more at
www.ThereseDrama.com.

come. Letters will be sent out soon and phone calls made to the newly reg-

PENTECOST One miracle of Pentecost was that, despite their diversity, each listener heard
God’s word in his or her own language. The meaning for stewardship is that,
by sharing the gifts poured out on us by the Holy Spirit, we will be empowered
to meet the needs of our brothers and sisters, whatever they may be.
ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL Each year during the Annual Catholic Appeal campaign, we pause and con-
sider all the good that is done because we give: the homeless are sheltered;
the elderly are cared for; our seminarians are prepared for future ministry, to
name a few. Great things are accomplished in the name of Jesus! If you have
not already done so, please say “YES” to the Annual Catholic Appeal with a gift
TODAY, Gifts of any amount are welcome, and your gift will make everything
possible. If you cannot make a financial commitment at this time, please fill
our an envelope and pledge to offer a prayer (write it in the pledge amount
area). Return your pledge envelope today or donate online:
