The Ace Magazine Mission:The Ace Magazine connects the multicultural community to the university at-large with contributions from student writers and faculty members. Since 2008, The Ace has sparked discussion between campus groups furthering our belief that “we all have similar issues no matter our color.”

As you've probably noticed by now, this is most likely the skinniest ACE Magazine you've ever held. It's almost a metaphor, as this organization is certainly losing a great deal with the departures of Ayanna Alleyne, Brooke Oki, and Chasidy Lowe, all members of the class of 2014.

I've had the pleasure of serving the community on the senior staff alongside these incredible young women and cannot imagine what it will be like to put the magazine together without them by my side. I remember the night Ayanna, Chasidy, and I were appointed in April 2012 like it was yesterday. We were in the Black House at our weekly Tuesday night meetings when our Editor-in-Chief Emeritus, Kwasi, told us all that we'd be in charge of the final issue of the year—alone. It all happened so fast. Just ten minutes before that, we were merely writers for The ACE.

Of course, we accepted the challenge and went about preparing the issue and release event as best we could. It was all going well: Arielle and Simi, also members of the class of 2014 and The ACE family, were handling the promo of our issue and we were working to make our first ACE one to remember. Then, disaster struck. As it tends to do, time got short; it was the night before the magazine was due at the printer's and the copy wasn't finished. Huddled around a laptop in Gelman until the wee hours of the morning, tinkering and fiddling with Adobe InDesign like we had never seen text boxes ever in our lives, somehow the three of us made it work.

The rest is history. As Ayanna and Chasidy traded semesters abroad for Fall 2012 and Spring 2013, Brooke was brought on as an additional resource. Between the four of us, an unbelieveable nine ACE Magazines have seen the light of day.

To Ayanna: Your journalistic prowess and drive will take you very far and I'm so thankful to have been able to work with you. As twin majors, I appreciated your attention to detail and the vision you brought to The ACE, both in meetings and the long nights of editing, editing, and more editing. You've left an indelible mark on the ACE.

To Brooke: Getting to know you over the past two years has been a true pleasure. Since the beginning, you've been so committed to the magazine and definitely more than just a copy editor. Anyone who knows you, I think, can agree that you have quite the ... unique ... personality, and we wouldn't have it any other way. Thank you for all the t's you've crossed, i's you've dotted, and laughs you've given us since joining the team.

To Chasidy: I don't know where to begin when it comes to saying goodbye because I simply do not want to. How we've put out nine magazines together, I can't even believe. But, we have, and despite a few missed deadlines here and there (like that time when the freshman issue came out in the third month of school... ), somehow The Ace is still a thing. So shoutout to us not ruining it completely! Thank you for your time, effort, and passion for this publication. Issue after issue, The ACE has been a labor of love because I've been lucky enough to have worked with great people like you.

I wish each of you the best as you prepare to leave this university.

Looking ahead, I must admit that I'm very excited for the next era of The ACE. Replacing Brooke and Chasidy on The ACE Senior Staff are Sarai Reed and Danielle Noel, in addition to the returning Nana Agyemang. I can't wait to see what next year has in store.

Until then, let us continue to congratulate the class of 2014 and celebrate all they have done for the George Washington University. Inside, you'll find our top nine and crowd favorite superlatives. Thanks again, readers, for another great year!

Most Memorable Moment?

It's hard to single out the most memorable moment in my whole GW experience, but I will say that the MSSC has really shaped my time here. Anything that has to do with the MSSC truly has been memorable, from talking in Ms. Sohi/Falani's office for hours to screaming at Scandal in Room 102. Most Embarrassing Moment?

My first week of class I walked into the wrong classroom and sat for an awkward amount of time before I realized it was a grad class and I awkwardly got up in the middle. People laughed at me.

I honestly can't think of a specific moment, not because I don't have one but because I usually have something embarrassing happen three or four times a week. Typically when I'm walking with my headphones on listening to a hype song and then I trip on the sidewalk.
