Fourth Sunday of Easter May 12, 2019

PASTOR’S MESSAGE: Fourth Sunday of Easter “When the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and with violent abuse contradicted what Paul said.” (Acts 13:46) In the Acts of the Apostles, there are many instances when the Spirit-filled testimonies of the apostles met with anger and jealousy, Jews in particular. Jesus was quite frank and direct in addressing the exclusive church mentality of his time. If Jesus were in our midst today, would He be challenging us to widen our horizons and reach out in love and welcome to the least among us? The forthcoming Pastor’s messages will focus on the four pillars of stewardship (prayer, formation, hospitality, and service) as essential to our moving forward as a parish community. These pillars will become critical items of discussion in our leadership and ministry circles within the parish. Becoming a stewardship parish entails a lot of hard work and participation from everyone. Our ministries are continuing to multiply, as we have added to the list the Altar Society Ministry who will look after the washing and ironing of altar cloths; priests’, deacons’ and altar servers’ vestments; and the overall cleanliness of the sanctuary. Prayers and praise to those who can volunteer for this new parish ministry. May is a month we honor our Blessed Virgin Mary so after the weekday masses, the Marian rosary, and devotions offered for personal intentions. This is also the beginning of our parish “lean months” as most snowbirds have left; diminishing both the collections and the volunteer ministers in our church liturgies. Any additional help is appreciated! And, as the school year ends, we send our congratulations to the students who will be graduating. May their coming days be filled with the jubilation of accomplishment and spiritual guidance for their future. Blessings of Easter joy and all good things to everyone!
