Across the globe, there is an increasing focus on diversity and inclusiveness in both the workplace and on the board of directors. There are external pressuresfromregulators, fromgovernanceandCSRgroupsandthechanging demographics of the workforce. While many industries have been successful in attracting and retaining employees, executives and board members who reflect the communities in which they operate, mining companies are increasingly being singled out for at best, not having kept pace and at worst for their lack of diversity. Many studies continue to demonstrate that diversity and inclusiveness drive positive business outcomes. How will the mining industry transition from a compliance obligation to an instrumental component of business strategy?
This session will consider:
•Whyisdiversityandinclusivenessimportant,andwhatarethe latest trends?
•Whatisthecurrentrealityofdiversityandinclusiveness, andwhatarethe challenges being faced in the mining industry?
•Whatbestpracticesexistingwithintheminingcompanyandinotherindustries that may assist us in meeting these challenges?
