News from the Port Hardy Inn

Preparations are underway for the 2015 tourist season here at

the Port Hardy Inn. We've painted, the new beds have arrived with the new sheets, and we've got a BIG SIGN! If you haven't seen it come take a look at the four way stop by the hotel.

The ladies in housekeeping have been hard at work getting everything spic and span. Cleaning up the mess after all of the work that's been done to the building was a major project and they kicked butt!

We would like to take this time to say thanks to everyone who has helped out getting the hotel ready for this summer, we couldn't have done it without you. We are all excited for this summer and can't wait to show you what the new hotel will do for the community! We've also set aside a room for the Nakwakto Rapids Tours and Gift Shop right off the main lobby. Here you'll be able to find authentic gifts from our culture. You'll also be able to book a trip, with the gift shop staff, into our beautiful traditional home lands. The Nakwakto Rapids Tours are about 4 hours long, We Explore the world's fastest navigable tidal rapids and surrounding wilderness in the company of Native Cultural guides from the Gwa'sala and 'Nakwaxda'xw Nations. We are also starting a wildlife/ culture tour this year while the rapids aren't running. We are super excited because we are booking up fast, If you like more information about the tours check out our website

http://nakwaktorapidstours.com/ to view our dates.

Cheers from the team at the Port Hardy Inn

Hello Everyone!

Just a little update on the Food Security and Nutrition programs.

A huge thank you to Silena George and Cassidy Walkus for all your help

with the Good Food Bag Program every other week!

What is the ‘Good Food Bag’ Program?

The Good Food Bag program makes wholesome produce more affordable

to community members. Each bag contains fresh fruits, vegetables and

ingredients for a healthy recipe at the cost of only $10.00. It also has a

calendar showing sign up cut off and pick up dates inside. You can sign

up for a bag at the band office but be quick as we only accept the first 30

people!

Just a reminder that your bag has to be picked up on the pick up date

otherwise it will be given to someone else as it can go bad over the

weekend.

What else is going on?

I have been assisting Silena with elders programs at the elders building

every week. I have been getting ready to start planting in the

community garden as well as starting the composting program.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me!

economic development ventures on behalf of the Gwa’sala-‘Nakwaxda’xw Nations (GNN). KEDC and

GNN comprise a Limited Partnership where KEDC is the General Partner and GNN is the Limited

upholding the pride and well-being of the Gwa’sala-‘Nakwaxda’xw peoples.

Along with four other operating Limited Partnerships within KEDC that operate for-profit business

enterprises, KEDC’s construction/real estate company positions the corporation to develop a profile of

business ventures within these industries. An opportunity now exists to purchase an accommodation

restaurant and pub as well as conference and meeting space.

The tourism and hospitality firm Mizare, based in Vancouver BC, is pleased to have contracted to operate

full-time positions, as indicated.

Thank you,

The Mizare Hospitality Team
