On this date, the LPS bus may arrive home 15 to 20 minutes late. Early Childhood will conduct their drill on Thursday, November 9. This drill is for students who receive LPS bus service.

LPS Elementary Principals Present Bubba’s Closet On Saturday, November 11 8:00-9:30am at McPhee Elementary, students can pick out warm winter clothing to adopt and use. Any elementary student accompanied by an adult may come and choose new and gently used winter clothing to adopt and use—for free. There are no income requirements. McPhee Elementary is located at 820 Goodhue Boulevard. Lincoln East High School Little Cheer Clinic The Annual Little Cheer Clinic is open to all students grades K-5. Learn cheers, chants and pom routines. Please see the attached registration form for more information. East High School’s Gobble Wobble 5K/1 Mile Walk Ready to run like a rafter of turkeys? Lincoln East High School is hosting their third annual Gobble Wobble 5K and 1 mile walk, on November 18th, to raise money for the Nebraska Make a Wish foundation. Bring the whole family, and your dog too! Join us for the 5K starting at 10:00am and the 1 mile walk starting at 10:45am. Turn in the registration form to the EAST HIGH SCHOOL MAIN OFFICE by November 1st to reserve yourself a t-shirt and a spot in the race for just $15 a participant. Registration forms sent home in the Wednesday folders and attached. Gritty Kid of the Week With our school-wide theme of GRIT, we are encouraging students to work hard and keep trying even when things are challenging. The students are really taking hold of the concept and showing great effort! Students are being recognized by their teachers for showing GRIT and are earning mustangs that they deliver to the office and get hung up in the lunchroom. Each week we are recognizing one student who is nominated by teachers and administrators as "The Gritty Kid of the Week". The student is announced during the morning announcements and has their picture hung in the main hallway for the week. Our "Gritty Kid" recognized this week: Ronan Lieneman—4th Grade----Mrs. Firestone MAP Testing 5thGrNovember2andNovember15Duringthesetestingperiods,weencourageyoutomakesureyourchildrenareinschoolunlesstheyareill.Thebestpreparationforthesetestsistocometoschoolwellrestedwithapositiveattitudetowardtakingthetests.Thesetestsarenot“highstakes”foryourchild(theydonotimpactstudentgradesoradvancementfromgradetograde)butitisimportantyourchilddotheirbestonthesetestssothatLPSteachersandadministratorshaveaccurateinformationaboutyourchild’sknowledgeandskills. Student Council Maxey Student Council remains very busy. Money from sales during the month of October will be donated for breast cancer awareness. Two food drives and one toy drive will be taking place soon. The Maxey food Drive for the Lincoln Food Bank will be November 1st-17th. East High is also collecting food for the Food Bank. The high schools are having a friendly competition and East asked Maxey to help. The East drive will take place from now until November 3. The food bank would like canned and boxed food items. Pease, no glass. The toy drive will benefit children at Cedars. Toys are especially need for ages newborn-age 3. Please bring new unwrapped toys to the container in the front hall. The dates for the toy drive are also November 1st-17th. Thank you for supporting your Maxey Student Council!
