RESEARCH PROJECT
WHEN DID HE LIVE? & WHERE DID HE LIVE?
• Max was also known as Maxwell Spencer Dupain, that was his full name.
• Max Dupain lived from( 1911-1992).
• Dupain was born in Ashfield, Sydney, his parents where Ena and George Dupain.
WHEN DID HE START PHOTOGRAPHY AND WHAT INSPIRED HIM?
• At 13 years of age
• Dupain was given his first camera, and quickly developed an avid interest in photography.
• Max Dupain was inspired by Man Ray’s photographs, especially his abstract works and the way Ray deals with lighting.
• Dupain was also influenced with Paul Cezanne (French painter) where his painting was equivalent to Man Ray’s photographs.
• Dupain was influenced with both these artist as they have worked with nudes like him.
WHEN DID HE GAIN GREATEST RECOGNITION FOR HIS WORK AND FOR WHAT IMAGE(S)
• He gained greatest recognition in (1997) after his sunbaker image.
• He won the Carter Memorial Prize for Productive Use of Spare Time in 1928.

• Max Dupain worked with Nude black and white style kind of images.
WHAT TYPES OF SUBJECT MATTER DID HE WORK IN?
• He worked in Portraiture subjects
• He also worked in Documentary photography.
DID HE GAIN ANY SPECIAL AWARDS?
• Yes he did gain a special which was the Carter Memorial Prize.
