• Develop initiatives to improve diet and nutrition in Maui’s multiethnic population, addressing diabetes, iron deficiency, weight mgmt and others

• Conduct outreach programs for stakeholders to enable them to make educated decisions to improve their health, wellness and quality of life.

• Deliver education programs aimed at increasing local food production by households and commercial producers

• Promote locally grown commodities to minimize mainland and intern’l imports with a focus on local produce of high nutritional value

• Participate, at the state level, in research, training and extension regarding detection, analysis, diagnosis, management, and assessments of the risk and impact of threats to Hawaii’s food supply and biological and chemical threats
