LIGHT WEIGHT AND COMPACT DATA

ACQUISITION AND PROCESSING.

The Modular Acquisition Unit (MAU) is a small, flexible, flange-mount line replace-

able unit developed for both analog and digital signal acquisition, processing and

recording applications.

Traditionally, these applications have been to support EUROCAE ED-112 crash

data recording systems, however the technology is very versatile and can be em-

ployed in other forms of data acquisition and processing.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

Modular designThe MAU is a stackable ‘modular’ plat-

form which allows easy customisation

for specific aerospace applications.

Each module has a fixed footprint of

3.5 inch (90 mm) width and 3.2 inch (80

mm) depth.

The MAU modules perform functions

such as:

▶ Expanded signal acquisition capa-

bility (24 channels per module).

▶ Quick Access Data Recorder (QAR).

▶ Pitot-static pneumatic inputs.

▶ Wireless data transfer.

Standards ▶ RTCA DO-160G Environmental

conditions and test procedures for

airborne equipment.

▶ RTCA DO-254 Level D Design as-

surance guidance for airborne

electronic hardware.

▶ Temperature (operating): -55°C

(-67°F) to 70°C (158°F).

Quick Access Data Recorder (QAR)

QARThe QAR features 1 GB of SLC grade

NAND internally, and will also simul-

taneously record to a user replaceable

SDHC type memory card up to 32 GB.

Data output ▶ ARINC 717 output for use with a

crash survivable flight-data re-

corder. This output can run from

64 wps to 1024 wps.

▶ ARINC 429 output for use with an

on-board maintenance system or

ARINC 739 MCDU.

▶ FSK for synchronisation of cockpit

voice recorders.
