Starting in 2000 Bayside was founded by, and still includes Lead Singer Anthony Raneri

Mike Kozak (guitar),Chris Jackson (bass), and Vinny Daraio (drums) were the other founding members

The band name was an improvisation that stuck

Signed in 2001 released 2 albums with this label

Tragedy Strikes

While touring in the western united states, the band’s van hit black ice and killed then drummer John “beatz” Holohan

Tragedy Strikes (cont.)

Although tragic, this served as a catalyst for the bands success.

Band released their acoustic album in 2006 featuring “Winter” in honor of Holohan.

One of the bands few songs that doesn’t have a major story or experience tied to it

Not well known to many though it

General emotion is optimistic with some sadness

Verses are split into 2 sections i.e. 1st verse starts 0:17 and changes up at 0:45

Added vocal emphasis with each new chorus

Use of repetition at various parts adds emotion

At the beginning, the vocals are prominent and the rest of the band is playing quietly

Slight crescendo at 0:42 sets up chorus

The song is one large crescendo with more energy after each chorus

2:51 guitar solo gives the song some contrast

Its not a bad little war

Much faster tempo than the previous 2 songs

The band uses different speeds to give the song an added texture.

Back up vocals are used to emphasize different parts of the song.

2:25 the bridge is different to add something different to the song, but not so much to distract.

Bayside Today

Band members are currently Anthony Raneri- vocals, Jack O’shea-lead guitar Chris Gugliemo- drums, and Nick Ghanbarian- Bass.Bayside continues to tour throughout North America and Europe and working on albums today and the rising Cult status is spreading to more and more people. I would recommend this band to anyone who wants to listen to quality punk rock music.
