Why would You Need a Hip Implant?
If a hip is broken or damaged ( especially in old age) sometimes it is needed for mobility. The hip can be damaged so much that it cannot heal.
If your hip is painful, deformed or mobility is limited (or you cannot move it) you may require a replacement for normal movement and a pain free life.
Are there Non-Surgical Options Available
Yes Depending on what the injury is sometimes physical
therapy can be used to strengthen muscles and relive some pain.
Medication can be prescribed to slow bone decay in the hip. These drugs can harden bones and delay the need for surgery.
Current Replacement Models
DePuy Orthopedics, ASR and other companies have developed deferent hip replacements. They have made replacements with different designs, materials, and life spans but all seem to have some flaws.
The materials in most of these hip replacments wear down and need to be replaced again or fixed in some way.
Our Replacement
Our replacement hip is made out of a durable titanium alloy (Titanium and cobalt chromium). The cup of the hip implant is made out of ceramic. This is done so that the metal does not wear down and damage the patient. Our implant features: a ceramic cup that goes more than half way around
the ball of the replacement femur. This prevents dislocation of the hip.
Our replacement hip has holes in it for the bone to grow into. This eliminates the need for cement and makes the implant stronger over time.
Cost Procedures and Rehab
This joint costs (with the cost of the operation, hospital, ect) is nearly 130,000 at some of the most respected hospitals in the nation.
The Process of installing this hip requires the top of the femur to be removed and a hole to be drilled for the “spike” of the hip to be installed. The ceramic cup is installed in the pelvis and modified to fit and the ball and cup joint is assembled in the body.
Rehab requires a hospital stay for the wounds to heal and up to a few months of physical therapy to strengthen and repair the muscles and ligaments in the hip.
