When you are at the Club enjoying any number of activities we certainly hope you never get tired of hearing
“thank you” from our Staff. Whether it’s being said after dining at the Club or turning in your golf cart, each
thank you is sincere and from the heart. We, as employees of The Forest Country Club, are grateful for the
privilege to serve the ladies and gentlemen of this Club, for the ability to support our families by doing so and
for the capabilities to further our careers and professional development. As our US Thanksgiving holiday
comes and goes, rest assured that The Forest’s staff, over 100 strong, will be giving thanks for the many
blessings that our great Club provides, as well as the valued relationships we have developed with so many of
our members.
With Christmas fast approaching, please keep The Forest in mind for your gift needs. Our fully stocked Pro
Shops (Golf and Tennis) and special order program will provide gifts sure to please the athletes in your life.
On the other hand, our Forest Private Label wine is a popular Christmas gift, stocking stuffer or party gift.
We are happy to gift wrap or create gift baskets, just let us know what to include and we will take care of the
rest.
Our Team has done an incredible job of moving past Irma and each day signs of the damage become more
difficult to discern. We look forward to an extraordinary season full of fun, friends and camaraderie. As many
of us will be traveling over the holiday season, please be safe. We are looking forward to seeing each and
every member this season and extending a sincere thank you!

Eve and Tim reside in suburban Chicago and recently purchased a home in the Forest community. Eve has spent over a decade in
early childhood education as an ESL teacher after being a stay at home Mom raising her two sons, Patrick and Jonathan. Both are
married and starting families of their own. Tim spent his career in the consumer products industry holding various financial
positions. Eve and Tim plan on retiring in the spring of 2018 and are excited to be members of the Forest.

Summer is officially over, Folks! Let’s enjoy the Florida “Winter” weather and all that The Forest Country Club has to offer.
There is a new buzz in the air and we want you to know how much we appreciate you as members and you truly are, our
priority.
Please keep in mind the best way to acquire new members is through your referrals. We’ve got a great membership promotion in
place through the end of the year and what better way to spend your day at The Club but with a friend or family member. If you
have anyone in mind that may be interested in membership at The Forest Country Club, please reach out to me.
We are currently running an attractive pre- construction program which will extend a $5,000 joining fee discount on our Family
or Individual Golf Memberships until December 31, 2017. Our popular Executive Golf Membership (54 years and younger) will
receive a $2,500 credit towards their Joining Fee. (All dues and fees are listed in the brochure included with this mailing.) As an
added bonus, those new Family, Individual and Executive members will receive complimentary dues from their date of joining
until December 31, 2017.

Well, we are off to a wonderful start to the 2017-2018 Season! We’ve been fortunate to welcome 12 new
Golf Members, 6 Preview Golf Members, 7 new Annual Members, and have 4 Members return

As we can all see the dynamic of the F&B Department has changed a little due to the flooding from Hurricane Irma.
The Pro Shop has been moved to the Gumbo Limbo Lounge for the time being while the new and improved Pro
Shop is being renovated. We are hoping that the new Pro Shop will reopen in December, but for the time being, all
F&B offerings will be in the Grill Room for lunch and dinner. You will also notice that both of the snack shacks are
closed. These also had flood damage and are being renovated. We are hoping to have those done by mid-November
and in the meantime you will see Julie and her team riding around the course on beverage carts.
The F&B Team appreciates all of our members support. This support will be crucial for the next few months in
building up the revenues lost during the flooding and hurricane. We would love to see you dining in the Grill Room
or attending one of the many events we have planned through the season. Dining one extra night a week in the
Grill Room or attending one more event per month makes a huge difference for the Club. We hope to see you all at
the Club with your family and friends!
Wow, the summer is gone and the fall season is upon us. The F&B team is happy to see
our members returning from their northern homes. We hope that everyone enjoyed their
summer. As we all know everyone is still rebuilding and cleaning from Hurricane Irma.

Greetings Forest Country Club members! Welcome back to The Forest Country Club!
It’s been an extremely busy summer and fall for everyone to say the least. We began with, what some called
a 100 or a 500 year storm. I called it a horrible rain-event followed by an awful Category 4 Hurricane named Irma.
In the rain event at the end of August, we received 18+” of rain with little wind. Both courses and The Forest community were
flooded for an extended period of time. A couple of weeks later, just as we were preparing to open back up, we needed to close
again in preparation for Hurricane Irma. With a Category 4 - 5 Hurricane bearing down on us, we did everything possible to
secure the Club from further damage. We were also worried about our employees, who were also in harms way.
We were hammered by Hurricane Irma, leaving many of our employees without water, electricity, food or fuel. Some lost power
for a week or longer. With 90 degree heat, no electricity made life absolutely miserable for them. We have a remarkable bunch of
employees. I’m so very proud of them all. After Irma, with no communication, our dedicated Staff found their way back to The
Forest despite scarce gas supplies, no power and no water. Downed power lines, flooding waters and trees blocked our way into
the community and maintenance shop. Everyone came in to begin the cleanup process, including staff from the Clubhouse and
Pro Shop. Thank you to them! Your Golf Course Maintenance crew worked long days in scorching heat and high humidity, only to
go home to no power or relief from the heat. Hats off to them for their dedication.
The courses and grounds were truly a mess. The overwhelming question was, where do we begin? With no power, limited
water and fuel, we managed to begin the process to dig our way out. We were a focused family with a mission in mind. Get
the Club opened as soon as we can. We have accomplished the first phase of many as we move forward.

Greetings from the Golf Shop!
It is great to see our members return for season. We have a fun-filled event schedule for everyone this
season and you will be seeing some new faces in the Golf Department very soon. Joining us as our
Seasonal Assistant will be Michael Abate, an Assistant Professional from Vermont National. Michael will be joining us on
November 1st and we are very excited to have him on our team. Please feel free to reach out to our Professional Staff anytime
for your merchandising, golfing or instructional needs. We now have five PGA affiliated Professionals on staff and we are all
happy to help in any way.
Instead of covering a Rule of Golf, I wanted to talk about pace of play. I am very impressed with our pace of play here at The
Forest Country Club. As with many clubs around the country, pace of play is always a “hot topic”. As we move into season, I
strongly encourage everyone to thoroughly enjoy every round at our fine Club. But as a secondary topic, I would like
everyone to keep in mind that pace of play can make or break a fun day. Please continue to do your part, making sure that
every day at The Forest is a perfect one.
It is great to be back “in season”!

The tennis HydroCourt project has been nearly completed. We
had great success with this project, soon all 5 courts will be
done and members will certainly enjoy playing on them.
League play is underway for the following teams who started
their matches in October: Bonita Ladies 3.0 team play on
Tuesdays at 11am, Ladies 3.5Minus team play on Wednesdays
at 11am, Ladies 4.0 team play on Thursdays at 11am, Ladies 4.0
USTA team play on Thursdays at 6:30pm, and Ladies 4.0
USTA team play on Sundays at noon.
The following teams are starting their league matches in
November or December: Men's 50+ White team play on
Mondays at 2pm, Men's 70+ play on Wednesdays at 2pm,
Ladies Copper team play on Thursdays at 11am, Men's 50+ Red
team play on Thursdays at 2pm, and the Ladies Gold team
play on Fridays at 11am.
League matches will break for several weeks around December
14th and resume again after the holidays, around January 8th.
Social Play for tennis continues Mondays, Wednesdays, and
Fridays for men at 7:30am to 9am and 9am to 10:30am, and
for ladies at 9am to 10:30am. Open Play Pickleball continues
Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 8:30am to 10am and
Competitive Pickleball continues on Fridays from 2pm to
3:30pm.
We invite everyone to come out and join us for our Pickleball
Welcome Event on November 15th. It will be a fun opportunity
for members to come out and play pickleball as well as watch
professional players in an exhibition game. Drinks and snacks
will be provided. We hope to see you there!

These Paleo bars are great for an occasional snack when you are looking for an energy boost.
Ingredients:
• 1 C. Almonds
• 1 C. Dried cranberries
• 1 C. Dried date crumbles
• 1 Tbsp. Organic unsweetened coconut flakes
• 3 slices Thick-cut bacon, cooked, cut into 2 inch strips
Directions:
1. Put all ingredients into a food processor or heavy-duty blender.
2. Blend at low speeds, pulsing, until you get a sticky mass that starts clumping together and/or
forming a ball.
3. Remove from food processor and shape into an 7″ x 7″ square on a cutting board or flat plate.
4. Transfer to the refrigerator to cool for at least an hour. Once chilled, cut into 8 bars. To store,
wrap bars in wax paper or plastic wrap.

Why its Important
There’s a saying that goes:
Crawl, Walk, Run.
What does this philosophy mean and how does it apply to
sports?
It simply implies that you shouldn’t go into a full sprint,
swing your driver as hard as you can on the 1st tee, or try to
drill a serve to the deep corner as hard as you can before
warming up. Warming up is the crawl.
It’s crucially important to warm up before engaging in golf, tennis, pickle ball, or any sport for that matter.
As season begins I am presenting golf, tennis, and pickle ball
warm up sessions at area communities. I stress the
importance of a sport specific warm up, and engaged the
participants in movements and stretches to get their blood
flowing and loosen up the muscles demonstrating the
importance of rhythmic activity and its importance in injury
prevention.
After you warm up properly, you can walk. That’s the part
where you begin to do your athletic activity at a moderate
pace, increasing your heart rate, and further enhancing your
physical well-being.
And guess what? You are now ready to run! Your body is
ready to power a full swing on the course or deliver targeted
serves with some real oomph! Return balls across the net
with strong arm. Embrace the competitor in you!
Remember it all starts with the warm up. When you warm
up and get the body physically and physiologically ready to
go, great things will happen. You’ll avoid pulling a hamstring,
twisting a knee, or injuring your back, plus your performance
on the playing field will be better for it.
Crawl, Walk, Run. It’s the right way to go.

The 5th Annual Turkey Trot is open to all Forest Residents and
guests. Join TeamRPC in the Fitness Garden, adjacent to the Pro
Shop at 8am. This event includes a 1-mile fun walk and a 3.65
mile walk, jog or run. Event is followed by a complimentary

Forest Quilters
The FOREST QUILTERS are very proud to announce that we recently turned in our
301st quilt for the Linus Project, where they will be distributed to children in stressful situations by police, firemen, social workers, nurses and doctors.
It would have been impossible without the wonderful donations of many people of both cash and fabric....and impossible without the purchases so many of you made
of our golf cart seat covers that we sell in the Pro Shop. There is no counting of the hours of work put in by our industrious and creative quilters.
So all Forest members, YOU can be proud, too.
The Quilters will be meeting starting in mid-October. We meet on the second and fourth Mondays at 12:30 in the Ladies Card Room. We welcome all and we
have willing teachers, who can get new people started.
