It draws on the diverse strengths of Columbia in mathematics, statistics, stochastic processes, numerical methods, and applications to finance. The program attracts students whose academic background is in quantitative areas such as mathematics, statistics, physics, economics, computer science, or engineering. Many have previous work experience in finance. The program may be followed either full-time or part-time. International students on F-1 or J-1 visas must register full-time. Full-time students complete the program in two or three semesters, while part-time students typically take 2-3 years. The application deadline is in mid-May. Applications should include: transcripts of previous academic records, three letters of recommendation (from professors, employers, or both), a statement of academic purpose and a one-page resume. GRE or GMAT scores are required; GRE scores are preferred. TOEFL or IELTS scores are required for international students.
