MFAS Project Overview
Project Components
• The development of 376 formative assessment tasks aligned to the CCSSM.
• Two RCTs of the effect of the use of MFAS on student achievement and teacher knowledge of content and pedagogy.
• The development of 18 lesson study toolkits aligned to the domains of the CCSSM.
Goals of this Presentation
• To introduce you to the process of lesson study
• To preview the Lesson Study Support System and our Kindergarten Numbers and Operations in Base Ten Toolkit
• Share the experiences of a team of teachers engaging in lesson study surrounding Common Core standard K.NBT.1.1

Work with numbers 11-19 to gain foundations for place value
K.NBT.1.1
Compose and decompose numbers from 11-19 into ten ones and some further ones, e.g., by using objects or drawings, and record each composition or decomposition by a drawing or equation (e.g., 18 = 10 + 8); understand that these numbers are composed of ten ones and one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, or nine ones.
