history
Srinivasa Ramanujan , one of Indias greatest mathematician was born in his grandmothers house Erode , a small village about 400 km south west of Madras , on 22 December 1887. His father worked in Kumbhakonam as clerk in a cloth merchant shop.
Five year old : Primary school
January 1898 :Town high school in Kumbhakonam
1904 : He got scholarship
1906 : He entered into Pachaiyappas college
14 July 1909 : He married S Janaki Ammal
1911 : His first paper published , work on
Bernoulli Number
1 March 1912 :Appointed to the post of clerk
1916 :Cambridge University granted Bachelor Of
Science Degree
Contributions of ramanujanRamanujan made substantial contribution to the analytical
theory of numbers and worked on elliptic functions , contributed fractions infinite
He worked on divergent series
He gave a meaning to Eulerian Second Integral for all value of n , He proved that the integral of ( x )n e−7=gama ie true for all value of gamma
Goldbachs conjugate , is one of the important contribution .The statement is every even integer greater than two is the sum of primes Eg :6=3+3
Partition of whole number ,which can be made to yield the required result by a series of successive approximation .Eg:3=3+0=1+2=1+1+1
Fermat theorem, which states that a prime number of the form 4m+1 is the sum of two squares.
Ramanujan Number which is a famous number 1729.It is the smallest number which can be expressed as the sum of two cubes on two different ways
Eulers constant ,he investigated the series (1/n)and calculated Euler constant to 15 decimal places
Conclusion
According to our B Ed curriculum we are asked to prepare an assignment on Contribution on Mathematician. So I decided to
prepare assignment on Indian Mathematician Srinivasa Ramaujan. For details I took references from Dr Sivarajan sir
books ,biodatas of Ramanujan and from Google
