Create a Document
• From the main menu, press space to get to the Word Processor and press Enter (Backspace-Enter-w)
• Press space to “Create a Document” and press Enter
• Press space to your desired folder and press Enter
• Type your file name and press Enter
Calculator
• From the main menu, space until scientific calculator and press Enter (Backspace-Enter-s) – It will say KeyPlus
• Don’t need numeric indicators• Help (Space-h)• Clear the calculator (Backspace-c)• Within a document, press Enter-i to insert, c for
calculator, and then “c” for the calculation or “r” for the result

• Percent– Dots 1-4-6

Starting the Nemeth Tutorial
• Press X from the main menu to get the Extension Menu
• Press space until you hear the Nemeth Tutorial• Press Enter to activate the program• You may be asked if you want to continue a
lesson (press n or y) We will use “n” here
Explanation Exercise
• Press space to find the OVERALL lesson you want and press Enter
• Press space to find the SUB-LESSON you want and press Enter
• Press space to reach explanation and press Enter to Start
• Read using the advance thumb key• When finished, press e-chord to exit back to the
activity list
Reading Exercise
• From the activity list, press space to reach reading exercises and press Enter
• Press space to see some Nemeth • Read • Press space-i to have it spoken• Press enter to go to the next exercise• Repeat the last 2 steps until finished• When finished, press e-chord to exit back to the
activity list
Writing Exercise
• From the activity list, press space to reach writing exercises and press Enter
• Type what is spoken in Nemeth and press Enter (to hear an item again, Space-c)
• If a correction needs to be made, use backspace to correct errors (Space-i will insert the correct answer)
• Repeat until finished• When finished, press e-chord to exit back to the
activity list
Proof Reading Exercise
• From the activity list, press space to reach proofreading exercises and press Enter
• After listening to the instructions for the exercise press Enter
• Press the advance thumb key to move through the exercise
• Repeat until finished• When finished, press e-chord to exit back to the
activity list

• Press enter on the appropriate category and space to the desired symbol and press Enter
• Then it will insert it into your document correctly

This will allow you to see what the student is seeing and doing on the Apex• Go to the Options Menu (Space with O)• Type V for visual display• Type V for VGA • Press Enter
