Propaganda- ideas or statements that are often false or exaggerated and that are spread in order to help a cause, a political leader, a government, etc.

Nationalism- a feeling that people have of being loyal to and proud of their country often with the belief that it is better and more important than other countries.

Choice Time #1

• You have a choice on which assignment you will do for the class.

1. You can create a poster illustrating propaganda or nationalism, that is meant to persuade men to want to join the military and fight in the war.

2. You will also write a ½ page speech explaining your poster and how it is going to convince men to enlist.

Choice Time #2• You will pretend that you have been drafted into the military.

2. You will write a 1 ½ page letter to your mother telling her all of the following:

a. What branch of military you are inb. Where you are stationedc. What you see around you (ex. Battle Field/Environment,

Technology, People)d. How you are feeling (ex. scared, nervous, proud, anxious) e. When you get home, do you think you will be the same person that

you were before the war. Explain.

***Be as detailed as possible. Please use correct spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and sentence structure.

• Letters are due at the end of class.

• Speeches are due at the end of class.

• Posters can be taken home to be perfected and are due Monday at the beginning of class.
