2) a) The science related to the collection, organization, presentation, interpretation and analysis of data is called statistics. A statistic is a single value that gives information about a characteristic studied in a set of individuals called population. When it is very expensive to study the characteristic in every individual of the population or it takes so much time, you can study it only in some members of the population. This set of number is called sample. b)

The characteristic you are studying is the amount of time your neighbors spend having breakfast.

The population is the set of neighbors you are considering. You need/don’t need to take a sample because there are NOT

many neighbors to ask, surely. You choose the members of the sample trying to obtain reliable

results from the study.
