On ANZAC Day 2012 MHSNQ did not have a war memorial or anywhere to remember our fallen diggers affiliated with the health service - but what a difference a year makes. Thanks to one patient, World War II Veteran Private Charles “Charlie” Edgar Harrison the hospital now has a coveted place to reflect upon our military sacrifices. Sadly Charlie did not live to see the Mater’s first official ANZAC Day Service however the hospital community celebrated the event in his honour.
