1Good Evening parents this is your principal, Ms. Telleria and I
would like to welcome you to the 2015-2016 open house for Mater
Academy. I want to thank you all for taking the time out of your
busy schedule to meet with your childs teacher and learn a little

It is very important that students arrive to school with enough
time to settle in to class and get ready for their school day.
Please note that class begins promptly at 8:15 am. Any student
arriving after this time will be marked tardy.
Furthermore, the school is not responsible for any student
arriving 30 minutes prior to the opening of the school doors. If
you are interested in enrolling your child in before or after care,
you may contact Centro Mater at the number listed on the slide.3We

We are very excited to be a Title I school once again. Title I
is the largest federal assistance program for our nations schools.
The goal of Title I is a higher quality of education for each
child. The program serves millions of children in elementary and
secondary schools each year. Mater Academy will be applying these
extra funds to supply the school with Paraprofessionals and to
purchase programs to support instruction.
In order to show that the school and the home are working
towards the success of our students, please make sure that you read
the Title I Parent Compact which indicates that we will work
cooperatively to provide for the successful education of your
child. In addition, we ask that you complete the Open House Survey,
which your childs teacher will provide, so that we can get some
feedback on how we can continue to improve our school.4Preparing
for the future
By the time your child takes the State assessments, he or she
will be doing so on the computer. It is very important that we
continue to strengthen our students computer skills. You can assist
in this preparation by making sure your child logs on to our
technology programs at home, like Think Central and his or her
student portal. Your childs virtual textbooks can be accessed via
the students portal. Make sure to ask your childs teacher for
information on how to access these programs.5Mater Bulldogs are

I wont take up anymore time, but I did want to review tonights
events. At the end of this announcement you childs teacher will
begin his/her presentation. Then you will have an opportunity to
meet with the special area teachers located in the cafeteria. You
may also take this moment to visit the teacher of your other child,
should you have more than one student at our school.Once again,
thank you for showing your support and taking an active role in
your childs education. With your continued involvement and
collaboration with our school, we can insure that Mater Bulldogs
will be college bound! Please enjoy the rest of tonights
