The 32-year-old lefty was acquired for two minor leaguers and this season he has posted a 5-3 record with 10 saves and a 3.66 ERA (19 ER/46.2 IP) in 47 relief appearances with the Pirates. Tonight, Farmer (and fellow Georgia Bulldogs Alex Wood and Josh Fields) returns to the Peach State a celebrated hero for becoming the first Dodger since at least 1920 (when RBI were first tracked) to hit a walk-off in his very first plate appearance. The last big leaguer to collect a walk-off RBI in his big league debut was Paul Janish on May 14, 2008, however, Janish’s run-scoring single came in his second at-bat. According to Elias, the last player to deliver a walk-off RBI in his first big league plate appearance was the Blue Jays’ Tomas Perez on May 3, 1995 vs. the Chicago White Sox.
