MASTERS PROGRAMME IN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING WITH EMPHASIS ON STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING

    120 credit points (start spr-11)

    BLENKINGE INSTITUTE OF INSTITUTE

    INTRODUCTION

Prediction, description and assessment of characteristics of structures and components in machine design are becoming

increasingly important to support decision making in product development. Being able to making well-informed decisions

at an early stage of the product development process as well as finally finding an optimal design is critical to

    competitiveness.

3 good reasons to apply to this programme

    coordinates theoretical and experimental methods

    provides in-depth knowledge and skills

    offers specialist career opportunities

    CONTENTS

The purpose of this programme is to prepare for participation in advanced product development or research in

mechanical engineering. The goal is that the graduates will master a coordinated approach to analysis support for

product development, including virtual and physical modelling, simulation/experimentation, and optimisation. They should

also be able to keep up with and contribute to new research findings and communicate scientific data and relationships orally and in writing using modern animation and visualization equipment.

    First year:

Partial Differential Equations, Mathematics, 7.5 credit points

Strategic Sustainable Development, Strategic leadership towards sustainability, 7.5 credit points

Master Thesis, Mechanical Engineering, 30 credit points

The education aims at providing good opportunities to pursue a career as an analyst or as a researcher within advanced

    product development.

The department of Mechanical Engineering at BTH has research activities related to the educational programme within

non-linear physical acoustics, fracture mechanics of thin laminated materials, and methods for analysis of non-linear

    structural vibrations.
