The Mastermind Group BlueprintThere is nothing quite like a Mastermind Group for dramatically increasing the income of your own business, whilst at the same time doing precisely the same for your Mastermind Members too.

However, it isn’t only your income that grows as a result of your Mastermind Group, it is your influence, reach and your expertise too. When you become the leader of a group of 6 to 12 people (the average size for a Mastermind Group) you cannot but help to quickly grow your knowledge.

You listen to the different challenges faced by each of the people in your group, then, before adding your thoughts to the obstacle, you listen to the opinions and advice from all of the other members in your Mastermind Group too.

You come in at the end of everyone else’s input to provide the final advice, which, with the benefit of listening to all the opinions to this point, is the most informed answer.

I am not being flippant here; I am being very serious.

I know a lot of people who have run a lot of Mastermind Groups and their ability to cut to the heart of any problem is simply huge, because they have heard every problem, challenge and obstacle in business a thousand times before!

I have been involved in attending and running Mastermind Groups since 2005. My only regret is that I didn’t start sooner: I started my marketing consultancy business in 2003. I missed two years of fast tracking my business and those of my clients. I don’t want you to miss out anymore, so let’s dive straight in, shall we?

The Size Of Your Group?How big do you want your Mastermind Group to be?

There are several considerations here:

• The time you want each member to have to raise their challenges and provide support; • The number of days you want to set aside each month for your Mastermind Group; • The income you want to generate from the group for your business.

Let’s look at these items as a whole, as you will quickly see that by dealing with the time of each session first, it quickly sets the maximum number you can have in your group which then leads neatly into your pricing for your Mastermind Membership.

You need your Mastermind Members to have sufficient time to raise their issue, for the other members in the group to provide their ideas, then time to wrap up and ensure that the member commits to the action that they will take before the next Mastermind Day.

I have seen some people try and cram all of this into a 20 minute session!

The trouble with this is the timings which breakdown like this:

• 5-10 minutes to discuss the issue(s) • 5 minutes to discuss solutions • 5 minutes to summarise the actions and commitments.

It is not enough time to dive sufficiently deeply into the issues to provide good or solid solutions.

My firm belief is that you must allow at least 45 to 60 minutes to give real value and genuine break-throughs for the members. Any less and you are short changing them, any more and you may well end up dragging out the solutions.

Now that you know this, you can then decide how many people to aim for in your group. I say ‘aim’, as it may be the case that you do not hit your ideal number when you first launch, but that should not stop you from launching.

Once you start your Mastermind Group and begin to generate success stories from your members, you will quickly be able to recruit new members to the group.

If you plan to run the event on one day (the most popular option), allowing for people to travel there to arrive, you might aim for a 10am to 6pm day, which with breaks, might look like this:

That would allow you to have six paying members in your Mastermind Group, seven including yourself.

Now that you know this, you can quickly decide what you would like to charge each member.

The Price Of Membership Of Your Mastermind GroupIf you would like an increase of income of £3,000 per month, each member will need to pay £500 per month, which, in my view and experience, is the minimum that you should charge for a traditional ‘Round Table’ Mastermind Group.

Any less than this and you may look like an amateur.

However, £3,000 a month for one day and some email support in between, maybe with the odd telephone call, is not a terrible start.

If you charge £750 a month, this becomes £4,500, £1,000 obviously becomes £6,000 a month, or £72,000 per annum (more than most people’s annual salary).

The top price I have seen charged by those with a long track record of suc-cess is £2,000 per month per member which would be £12,000 per month for your group.

That is definitely something to aim for, but you will need a lot of success stories behind you to recruit members at this level, or be able to prove that you will still be able to provide a significant return on investment for your members at this price point.

On that point, whilst I normally am a huge fan of guaranteeing your services, I do not apply this to Mastermind Groups.

Why?

Because some members will simply not take the required action, even though they agree to do so at each session. Therefore, it is simply impossible for you to guarantee your members’ results because you cannot guarantee that they will take action.

You might wonder why people attend a Mastermind Group but do not take action; I certainly do!

What I have realised is that some people are simply happy to pay to be part of something that is exciting, where they see people take action and achieve amazing results, and where they feel a part of a community.

It would never be enough for me, but I know from experience that it is definitely enough for some people, who each month attend, commit to do

what they said the previous month, or a slightly modified or tweaked version of it, but then do nothing again.

Don’t worry, as long as you only have one of these people in your group it will not stop your other group members from achieving amazing results.

Also, I will show you how to weed out these people on the Mastermind Group Interview process, so you will ensure that you have enough ‘action takers’ to make your group a roaring success.

Committing To Launch Your MastermindI will let you into a little secret. The first time I tried to launch a Mastermind Group, I failed.

I sat down to analyse why and it was really very obvious when I did:

I didn’t commit to launch my Mastermind Group, whatever it took!

I wanted to launch a group. I was ‘keen’ on launching a group. The money looked good.

All of these things applied, but I didn’t ‘commit’ to launch my group and make it happen, so as soon as I faced any obstacles, I easily talked myself down from the launch.

“Who are you to launch a group, Nick. You were just kidding yourself.”

“Well, it’s probably just as well that you didn’t launch your group as you probably couldn’t have answered all of their questions anyway.”

“It is probably a blessing in disguise that you didn’t launch your Mastermind Group – maybe something else is going to happen that is even better…”

We all have that inner voice trying to talk us around from doing something new. Far brighter people have analysed our brains and realised that, despite being such a developed species, the strongest part of our brain does not want anything to change. It wants to keep you precisely where you are with nothing changing day after day after day.

This is why the media pumps negative stories out all day; to keep us all pre-cisely where we are, paying taxes and earning enough, but not too much.

You will have moments during your launch process when you start to doubt yourself. This is perfectly normal. However, it cannot stop you from taking the required action, which is why you must commit 100% to launching your Mas-termind Group.

So I want you to do something for me now, to make it as easy as possible for you to commit to doing so.
