Class Portrait CDUse our Online program to autofl ow your portraits. Save time placing portraits one at a time and typesetting all the names. It is easy and free! Th ere is only one requirement: All elements of the class pages must be built in the Online program.

Reduce picture sizeOften digital cameras will create a fi le size that measures well over 10”x20” but is only 72 dpi resolution. Th ese fi les can be placed into your layout program. How-ever, this becomes time consuming as you have to then scale each picture down to fi t on your page.

If you have Photoshop, this reduction can be automated to work on many pictures at one time. We do not recommend using any other program to resize pictures. If you use another program, make sure to check the fi nished resolution of the smaller photo to ensure the resolution is at least 300 dpi as anything lower will make for a poor quality book.

Open the image in Photoshop.

1. Click on the Image menu and select Image Size to show the

Resize large images at 72 dpi to print-size images at 300 dpi.

2. dimensions of the original file.

3. De-select Resample Image.

4. Type 300 in the Resolution Field. Notice that only the Document Size changes, not the Pixel Dimensions, which means the image will be resized without losing image detail. Click OK.

5. If the Document Size is still too large, click on the Image menu and select Image Size. Select Constrain Proportions and Resample Image so the image will resize proportionally. In either the width or height fields, type in the correct dimension (the size the image will print). This time, the Pixel Dimensions will change, since the image is being made smaller. Click OK and the image will be resized to the print-size.
