German-Polish Master Double Degree Program in International Economics and Public Policy (IEPP)

in cooperation with our partner university, Warsaw School of Economics (SGH), Poland’s leading university of economics and management

KEY FACTS

• Partner university: Warsaw School of Economics (SGH)

• Structure:− 1st year: JGU Mainz (program‘s language English)− 2nd year: SGH Warsaw (program‘s language English)

• Master Thesis can be written either in Mainz or in Warsaw

• While seeking the MIEPP degree in Mainz, participating students might choose between a degree in “Management” or in “Finance and Accounting” at SGH

• Each winter semester, five students are admitted to enroll in the 2-year Double Degree Program

APPLICATION PROCESS

• Only students who are enrolled in the Master of Science in International Economics and Public Policy, Management or Accounting and Finance are allowed to apply for this double degree program

• Required documents:− A certified copy of your bachelor’s degree (in English or German)− English equivalent to B2 or a score of 87 points (or higher) in the internet

based TOEFL test− Letter of motivation (in English, max. 2 pages)− Short CV (in English, max. 2 pages)

• The results of your first MIEPP-exams will also be considered

Notice for students in Germany with Visa If you are in Germany with a VISA, you can also participate at the

ERASMUS programme

However, please be aware that your residence permit in another EU country may be limited to 3 months without losing the residence permit in Germany

Yet, it is possible to extend your stay in a foreign EU country without losing residence permit in Germany – you will need to talk individually with the German administrative offices

Thus, a detailed planning far in advance is necessary

• A module’s exam may consist of: • one exam for all courses of a module (“Module final-exams”) • This is the norm for almost all of the MIEPP and business courses

• separate exams for each of the courses of a module (“Module part-exams”) part-exams of a module can be undertaken in different semesters.

• Written exams (60 – 120 min) Calculations Essay Electronic Multiple choice

• Oral exams (15 - 30 min)

• Semester/term-/take-home paper (4 - 6 weeks)

• Exams can be repeated twice (i.e., a total of three attempts: the main exam + two repeat exams)

• You cannot retake an exam to get a better grade or more credits once you succeed

• Failed exams should be retaken as soon as possible. But the choice is up to you

• If you are sick during an exam, you will have to provide a doctor‘s note (please use the form online)

• Using the Joker => Joker form
