“LAUDATO SI” of POPE FRANCISMay 14, 2016 from 9:00am - 4:00pm

in the La Salette Retreat CenterCost: $40 (includes Lunch)

Pope Francis calls for a new dialogue about how we are shaping the future of our planet by reviewing our approach to ecology and our relationship to our sur-roundings. He is making a radical call to action from a throw away culture to a new life style. Pope Francis is seeking for a spirituality that is ‘capable of inspiring us’ for an ‘ecological conversion’ to deal with the ecological crisis. Through a journey through the nature, Scripture and ‘Laudato Si’ we will explore our attitudes, under-standing, convictions and way of life that will bring about this profound ecological conversion. The day will consist of walking the trails at La Salette, a photo exhib-it, reflections on Laudato Si and prayer.

BIG HERO 6MAY 20th, 2016 in the Welcome Center

“Blessed are the merciful for they shall see mercy” is depicted well in our next film: Big Hero 6. Mercy is a wonderful theme in the film Big Hero 6. The main character, a young robotics expert called Hiro, begins the film enjoying the power that his creativity and intelligence give him. He uses this power to get the better of others. But Hiro’s older brother, Tadashi, directs this same energy and power towards helping the world. His benevolent attitude is embodied in Baymax, the robot that Tadashi created whose only desire is to care for people and to help them grow. This is an award winning animated film.

BOOK OF THE MONTH The Joy of Love (Amoris Laetitia)

By: Pope Francis

Pope Francis’ Apostolic Exhortation The Joy of Love: On Love in the Family is appreciated as an aid to reflection, dialogue and pastoral practice, and as a help and encouragement to families in their daily commitments and challenges.

This Exhortation is especially timely in this Jubilee Year of Mercy. First, because it represents an invitation to Christian families to value the gifts of marriage and the family, and to persevere in a love strengthened by the virtues of generosity, commitment, fidelity and patience. Second, because it seeks to encourage everyone to be a sign of mercy and closeness wherever family life remains imperfect or lacks peace and joy.

Available in our bookstore.

With the Door of Mercy!

La Salette Shrine is dedicated to Our Lady of La Salette, the Mother of Mercy and the Mother of Reconciliation.

“The practice of Pilgrimage has a special place in the Holy Year, because it represents the journey each of us makes in this life. May Pilgrimage be an impetus to conversion, by crossing the threshold of the Holy Door, we will find the strength to embrace God’s mercy and dedicate ourselves to being merciful with others as the Father has been with us”. -Pope Francis

Guided Women’s Retreat June 3-5, 2016

Pope Francis opens the Bull of Indiction of the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy stating, “Jesus Christ is the face of the Father’s mercy . . . Mercy has become living and visible in Jesus of Nazareth.” The invitation of Mary at La Salette, “come near my children don’t be afraid” consists in a close encounter with the face of Christ who is merciful and kind to God’s children. This retreat will shed light on how we can draw closer to this God of mercy, live the ‘spiritual and corporal works of mercy’ and thus become true messengers of mercy in our world today. We will reflect also on Mary as the Mother of Mercy.Time for quiet reflective prayer will be offered as well as the opportunity for discussion and individual spiritual direction.

For more information, please contact the Retreat Center at: 508-222-8530.

A Day With MaryThe Phases of Mary’s Life

May 7 Presented by: Dottie Levesque$40 Donation, Lunch included

Mary is often referred to as the Mother of Mercy. During this Year of Mercy, it is indeed appropriate that we pe-tition her to help us become men and women of mercy. We encounter many individuals who seem to live by “an eye for an eye” and “a tooth for a tooth.” Supporting one another, we can leave this day of prayer convinced that, by our example, we can help our surroundings become havens of mercy. Doors open at 8:45am.

LITURGICAL MINISTERS NEEDED: GREETERS AND USHERS, READERS, EXTRA-ORDINARY MINISTERS OF

COMMUNION, ALTAR SERVERS, SACRISTANS, AND MUSIC MINISTERS

“Liturgy” is from the Greek, meaning ‘work of the peo-ple.’ When we come together for Mass we are at a liturgy, a work of the people. This means to be true to its name we need all sorts of people to do it well. If you feel you can be of service to our community in one of these roles, please let us know. Altar servers can be male or female and at least 13 years of age. Greeters, ushers, sacristans and music ministers just need an interest. Readers and Eucharistic Ministers must be Baptized and Confirmed and meet diocesan standards. All ‘volunteers’ above 18 will need background checks and attend a ‘safe environ-ment workshop.’ All new volunteers will be trained.
