FORTNIGHT FOR FREEDOM In response to current
threats to religious free-dom, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops has
called for a "Fortnight for Freedom," a fourteen-day
period of prayer, education, and peaceful action. Beginning on the vigil of the Feasts of
St. John Fisher and St. Thomas More--two great martyrs who remained faithful in the face of political persecution--these fourteen days from June 21 to July 4 are dedicated as a great hymn of prayer for our country. Religious free-dom is a right that must be safeguarded and preserved.
Through prayer, education, and peaceful action, we hope to remind ourselves and others in the United States, in-
cluding government officials, about the importance of pre-serving this fundamental right. For more information,
please visit www.fortnight4freedom.org.
June 21st, 22nd & 23rd our Church of St. Joseph will have an exhibition of the Relics of the Martyrs of the Revolution Mexican Cristero a Mass will be celebrated with the relics of 25 saints canonized by Pope John Paul II in the year 2000. Between 1926 and 1929 the condi-tions of the church in Mexico were extremely difficult, the Catholic clergy was subjected to all sorts of harass-ment on the part of rulers, who acted with brutal violence using more excuses to justify the persecution of priests by the mere fact of being a priest. . "The Cristero war killed hundreds of people, from lay people to priests all with the cry at the mouth of" Viva Cristo Rey and Viva la Virgen de Guadalupe ",before be-ing killed by the government of that time. Among those, there were 25 Mexican Martyrs canonized by Pope John Paul II during the Jubilee Year 2000, in Rome, Italy, on May 21, of that year, " These twenty-five servants of God who gave their life, shedding their blood for Christ, not only are Gloria in the Mexican Church, are primarily Glory of the Universal Church, which follow the footsteps of the Crucified, pub-lished the glorious witness to the faith they had inherited from the Apostles through generous preachers of the Word. After the canonization of the martyrs, the Catholic Church collected the martyr relics, which may be a piece of bone, piece of their clothes or something personal that they were carrying. "These relics were placed in a silver urn and now travel the country by way of pilgrimage for peo-ple to know the life and work of these martyrs. "This pilgrimage of the relics seeks to promote awareness and devotion to the martyred priests of Mexico and all those who sacrificed their lives for the faith during the Cristero persecution in Mexico,"

PATRIOTIC ROSARY The Legion of Mary is sponsoring the monthly Patriotic Rosary on Saturday, June 23 at 2:00 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Church, 114 S. Elizabeth St., Lombard. Each bead of the Rosary is for each of the 50 States and for the souls in that state. Please join The Legion of Mary in this devotion for the con-version of our nation and for the preservation of religious freedom. We had more "prayer-warriors" last month but wouldn't it be wonderful if we filled half of the Sacred Heart Church this month? Our country desperately needs prayers! This devotion is held every 4th Saturday of the month.
JOIN BISHOP CONLON IN PRAYER
Our Bishop, the Most Reverend R. Daniel Conlon will come out to pray the rosary on Wednesday, June 20th at 9:30 a.m. at the Glen Ellyn (Aanchor) Abortion Clinic, 1186 Roosevelt Road, just east of the House of Brides. Please join us. You are also very welcome to join the regular rosary group every Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. There are people at the clinic pray-ing every Wednesday and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. while sidewalk counselors are trying to offer hope and help to the young people who enter there. Your presence and your prayers are very much appreciated. Come and meet Bishop Conlon and thank him for standing up with us on the moral issues of our day.

The crown of the aged is their children's children; the children's glory is their father.
Prov. 17:6
Eucharistic adoration is a moment of intimacy, of trust, of friend-ship with Jesus Christ, the Redeemer, friend, brother, partner in our pilgrimage towards eternal life. In these times of prayer to Jesus Christ present in the sacred species, it is necessary to in-wardly Act of faith in the real presence of Christ in the Blessed Sacrament of the Eucharist, hope, charity, realizing that His pres-ence there, in bread, is a gesture of personal love to every man, to you. The Master is present and calls you. It is the opportune mo-ment to renew the purposes of holiness and generous response to the love of God. The adoration to Christ is also to accompany Him with feelings of mending by own sins and those of all men and make our own Christ’s most profound feelings.

So you had not the strength to stay awake with me for one hour? The only time our Lord asked something to his Apostles was the night of his ag-
ony. And since that time it has been frequent, in the history of the Church, that evil has always been awake and
the disciples asleep. It is for this reason that the groan arose from his anguished and abandoned heart ' So you had not the strength to stay awake with me for one hour?’ He did not implore for one
hour of activity, but for an hour of company”.
Benefits of a Holy Hour of Eucharistic Adoration Any person who passes an hour of adoration before Jesus in the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist, develops a personal relationship with Jesus and grows in love and holiness. A time of silence with our Lord in worship, allows that we listen and recognize His voice when he speaks to our hearts.
The difference between spending time with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament exposed in custody, to pass it to a Tabernacle, is the same difference between chatting with a friend face to face rather than separated by a closed door. See Jesus in the Holy Eucharist is more conducive to privacy and personal prayer which look at the Tabernacle.
We are in need of Adorers!! Every Friday, from 8 am-7 pm
The greatest need is in the mornings. How much time can you spend with Jesus?
What time can you compromise, so Jesus is not left alone? Please, fill out this form and return it as soon as possible to the Parish Office, or drop it off in the collection basket, or you can

In gratitude of God’s gifts of time and talent to us, we gratefully acknowledge and salute:
Fr. Luis Gutierrez
Stewardship Thought for the Week Seeds that take root in one season eventually start to show signs of life. Fields once dormant become verdant. Flowerbeds display their col-ors. Similarly, the seed of God's Word takes root in our lives. We can look and see it grow before the eyes of our hearts. We become God Stewards when we nurture God's word, and bear great fruit for His Kingdom.
