Pastor’s Corner

My Dear Parishioners, This weekend is the first of the month of July which means that in just a little over a month from now, we will celebrate our Annual Italian Festival. This will be my third festival as pastor of Our Lady of the Assumption but for the parish itself, it will be our 111th! Last year was a great success and I am looking forward not only to the Feast day itself but also the days of prayer and fellowship leading up to it. We will have our Triduum of Prayer on August 7th, 8th, & 9th. Fr. Christopher Moriconi, Secretary for the Archbishop of Philadelphia, will be our guest homilist each night. After-wards, we will gather for food & entertainment in the Piazza. Please consider joining us for these special days of prayer. The Festival itself will take place on August 11th. The Feast Day Mass will be at 1:30 PM (replacing the 11:30 Mass). Afterwards, the Festival will run from 3 PM until 8 PM with food, live music, and fun & games. We want to try to make our Festival bigger and better each year so I’m asking you to spread the word! Please consider bringing a friend! The Festival Thermometer is back! Our goal this year (as previous) is set at $5,000. It is our hope that by reaching this goal, we will cover many of the expenses associated with the Festival: namely, catering, the rental of tents, entertainment, etc… As customary, any monies left over will be used to benefit the upkeep and operation of our parish. Please consider making a donation to our annual Festival appeal and I thank you in advance for your generosity and support!

I hope that these summer days are allowing you and your families some time to rest, relax and enjoy the beautiful weather. While these days of summer provide an opportunity for many to go away it also can greatly impact our weekly collection. As a gentle reminder, you are kindly asked to please mail in your Sunday envelope if you are away on any given weekend. Your financial support is vital for the upkeep of our parish. I thank you for all of the sacrifices that you make to keep our parish vital and strong. Love and prayers, Fr. Carey

OLA Altar Servers Needed It’s not just for students anymore. We seek adult Catholics to be of service to our God & our Priests at the Altar during Mass. No Alb or Cassock is required, only encouraged. We request only your availability. Training is provided. Contact Deacon John Rose at [email protected].
