Through worship, education, and service, we continue the work of Jesus.
phone: 404-636-1418 fax: 404-636-4394
Dear friends in the Risen Lord,
Our Easter feast always turns my thoughts and prayers toward our loved ones who have died and toward those who grieve for them. In my own times of grief or loss, the words of the Exsultet, the Church’s ancient proclamation of resurrection faith, has always taken on a powerful personal meaning.
With full-throated joy, let us all make our own the words of Holy Saturday night’s hymn:
Exult, let them exult, the hosts of heaven, exult, let Angel ministers of God exult, let the trumpet of salvation sound aloud our mighty King's triumph!
Be glad, let earth be glad, as glory floods her, ablaze with light from her eternal King, let all corners of the earth be glad, knowing an end to gloom and darkness.
The sanctifying power of this night dispels wickedness, washes faults away, restores innocence to the fallen, and joy to mourners, drives out hatred, fosters concord, and brings down the mighty.
O truly blessed night, when things of heaven are wed to those of earth, and divine to the human.
May the peace of Christ truly inhabit the hearts and homes where death has struck this year. Of course, our Easter solemnity is not just for the grieving. Christ’s victory over sin and death means forgiveness for all who have ever sinned and eternal life for all who will ever die.
Easter joy to you all,
We extend a warm welcome to visitors to IHM. We are happy you chose to celebrate Easter with us. We hope you might also choose to become a part of our parish family.

HAVE YOU REMEMBERED IHM IN YOUR WILL? A charitable bequest to your parish will allow you to continue in death the Christian stewardship you practice in life. It does not matter whether the gift is $500, $5,000 or $500,000, your bequest will be remembered gratefully by those who come after you. The Catholic Foundation of North Georgia can assist you in remembering IHM in your Will. Those who make a bequest or a planned gift to the parish become mem-bers of the parish Legacy Society and the Archdiocesan Deo Gratias Society. For more information, contact Juliette Greco of the Catholic Foundation of North Georgia at 404-497-9440 or [email protected].

ST. VINCENT DE PAUL EASTER CHALLENGE! An IHM parishioner has pledged up to $5,000 to match dona-tions made to the IHM St. Vincent de Paul Conference through the month of April. This is a great opportunity to express Easter joy and double the impact of your gift through our benefactor's generous match. The IHM SVdP Conference serves the poor in our area throughout the year through clothing drives, food drives, the Thanksgiving Dinner program and the Christmas Giving Tree program. And IHM SVdP Caseworkers visit people in need in their homes to make a personal connection, pray with them, and assess their needs. Most clients need help with utilities or rent, so the IHM Conference uses your donations to help clients stay in their homes, keep the heat and lights on and the water running. Thank you!
BEQUEST GRATEFULLY RECEIVED Immaculate Heart of Mary has received a very generous bequest from the Estate of the late Helen Dulock. Helen came to Atlanta in 2004 to teach at Emory’s Woodruff School of Nursing. She later worked with Georgia Department of Public Health, serving children with developmental and medical conditions. At IHM Helen was active in the Thursday Scripture class. Helen returned to the Lord on May 9, 2017. Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her!

ST. VINCENT DE PAUL HANDYMAN If you need a handyman to help you with various small jobs around your house, you could obtain some help by hiring a Safe Environment approved volunteer from the St. Vincent de Paul IHM Conference to help you with your work. Simply make a donation to the St. Vincent de Paul IHM Conference for $25.00 for every hour the volunteer spends on your job. This is a win, win, win situation: we help you, you help the St. Vincent de Paul IHM Conference, and the St. Vincent de Paul helps the many people in need. So if you need some assistance with small jobs around the house, call 770-986-4996 and ask for Dirk.

EARTH DAY 2018—BEYOND A THROWAWAY CULTURE: REDUCING WASTE - BUILDING COMMUNITY Monday, April 16 Lower Level Room 7:00pm How can we as Catholics work individually and collectively to live more faithfully and justly with all creation? From contributing to land and marine pollution, to increasing our use of carbon-producing fuels, our reliance on single-use plastics has a devastating impact on God’s creation. The good news is that we can solve this problem. We can all play a role in reducing plastic pollution and minimizing our contribution to what Pope Francis calls “a throwaway culture” by working together as a community.
