INTRODUCTORY RITES ENTRANCE MUSIC Come As You Are (Deirdre Brown) Text: Deirdre Browne, © Tune: Deirdre Browne, ©; arr. By Jane Wood, b.1954, © 1994

Come as you are, that’s how I want you Come as you are, feel quite at home. Close to my heart, loved and forgiven. Come as you are, why stand alone? No need to fear, love sets no limits No need to fear, love never ends Don’t run away, shamed and disheartened Rest in my love, trust me again. I came to call sinners, not just the virtuous I came to bring peace, not to condemn Each time you fail to live by my promise Why do you think I’d love you the less? Come as you are, that’s how I love you; Come as you are, trust me again. Nothing can change the love that I bear you All will be well, just come as you are.

Celebrant – In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and

of the Holy Spirit. All – Amen.

GREETING C. – The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and

the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. A. – And with your spirit. SPRINKLING WITH HOLY WATER C. – In the waters of baptism, Elaine died with Christ and rose

with Him to new life. May she now share with Him in eternal glory. Amen.

LIGHTING OF THE PASCHAL CANDLE C. – In baptism Elaine received the light of Christ. That light has

guided her throughout her life. May she now enjoy the risen life with her risen Lord. Amen.

C. – May almighty God have mercy on all of us, forgive us our

sins, and bring us to everlasting life. Amen. PLACING OF THE PALL Christine Youl & Gianna Hickey C. – At her baptism Elaine received the new garment, and was

asked to wear it spotlessly throughout her life. May the Lord not look on any wrong that she may have done during her life, but rather look upon her faithfulness to her God and her love for her family and friends. Amen.

O God, almighty Father, our faith professes that

your Son died and rose again; mercifully grant, that through this mystery your servant Elaine, who has fallen asleep in Christ, may rejoice to rise again through Him. Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

A. – Amen.

LITURGY OF THE WORD FIRST READING (Proverbs 31: 10-31) Donna Connolly A Reading from the Book of Proverbs. Who shall find a valiant woman? Who shall find a woman of strength? A pearl of great price is she. All who are with her have confidence in her, and benefit from her experience. She initiates good, not evil, every day of her life. She does not neglect her tasks, she willing works. Broadminded her understanding of life is a source of nurture for her. She considers her options, then makes her move, investing the experience she already has. She works diligently, taking pride in her inner resources and strengths. When her gifts are encouraged and their value affirmed she will work wholeheartedly. She opens her heart to the needy, she is generous with the poor. Yet she does not neglect family needs, nor her own priorities. She is known for her dignity and strength and she laughs at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom and she teaches in a kind way. Those that are close to her praise her. Charm is superficial, and beauty fades, but the woman who is wise is the one to be praised. May all value who she is and may all applaud her integrity. The Word of the Lord. A. – Thanks be to God.

RESPONSORIAL PSALM (Psalm 23)(sung) The Lord is My Shepherd (The People of the Resurrection) TIS: 659; Words: Psalm 23. Music: Brian Boniwell © 1949. Arr: Kevin Hunt

The Lord is my shepherd, and I want to follow, Wherever He leads me, wherever He goes. Over the mountains, the waters and byways. Valleys and highways, He’s waiting for me. Refrain: I want to go to meet Him there, To lay myself down in His love. The Lord is my shepherd, and I want to follow, Wherever He leads me, wherever He goes. And while on the journey, to where we are going, He promised to be there to help us along. And over the mountains, we’ll walk on together, To know all the wonders He’s given to me. Refrain SECOND READING (1 Corinthians 13: 4 -8) Felicia Busuttil A reading from the letter of St Paul to the Corinthians. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. The Word of the Lord. A. – Thanks be to God.

ACCLAMATION (John 14: 1-6) A. – Alleluia, alleluia. I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No

one can come to the Father except through me. Alleluia. GOSPEL (John 14: 1-6) Fr Terry Kean C. – The Lord be with you. A. – And with your spirit. C. – A reading from the Holy Gospel according to John. A. – Glory to you, O Lord. Jesus said to his disciples: “Do not let your hearts be troubled; trust in God still, and trust in me. There are many rooms in my Father’s house; if there were not, I should have told you. I am going now to prepare a place for you, and after I have gone and prepared you a place, I shall return to take you with me; so that where I am, you may be too. You know the way to the place where I am going.” Thomas said: “Lord, we do not know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” Jesus said: “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” The Gospel of the Lord. A. – Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

LITURGY OF THE EUCHARIST OFFERTORY MUSIC Make Me a Channel of Your Peace (Susan Boyle) Text: Prayer of St. Francis; adapt. By Sebastian Temple, b.1928, © 1967, OCP Publications Tune: Sebastian Temple, b.1928, © 1967, OCP Publications; acc. By Jane Wood, b.1954, © 1995 Dedicated to Mrs Frances Tracy. Reprinted with permission.

Make me a channel of your peace, where there is hatred let me bring your love, where there is injury, your pardon, Lord, and where there's doubt, true faith in you,

Make me a channel of your peace, where there's despair in life let me bring hope, where there is darkness, only light, and where there's sadness, ever joy,

Refrain: O Master grant that I may never seek, so much to be consoled as to console, to be understood as to understand, to be loved, as to love with all my soul!

Make me a channel of your peace, it is in pardoning that we are pardoned, in giving ourselves that we receive, and in dying that we're born to eternal, life.

Refrain Make me a channel of your peace Where there's despair in life let me bring hope Where there is darkness only light And where there's sadness ever joy

PREPARATION OF OFFERINGS C. – Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, for through your

goodness we have received the bread we offer you: fruit of the earth and work of human hands, it will become for us the bread of life.

A. – Blessed be God for ever. C. – Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, for through your

goodness we have received the wine we offer you: fruit of the vine and work of human hands, it will become our spiritual drink.

A. – Blessed be God for ever. C. – Pray, brethren, that my sacrifice and yours may be

acceptable to God, the almighty Father. A. – May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands for the

praise and glory of His name, for our good and the good of all His holy Church.

PRAYER OVER THE OFFERINGS C. – As we humbly present to you these sacrificial offerings, O

Lord, for the salvation of your servant Elaine, we beseech your mercy, that she, who did not doubt your Son to be a loving Saviour, may find in Him a merciful Judge. Who lives and reigns for ever and ever.

A. – Amen.

PREFACE C. – The Lord be with you. A. – And with your spirit. C. – Lift up your hearts. A. – We lift them up to the Lord. C. – Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. A. – It is right and just. C. – It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation, always

and everywhere to give you thanks, Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God, through Christ our Lord.

In Him the hope of blessed resurrection has dawned, that those saddened by the certainty of dying might be consoled by the promise of immortality to come. Indeed for your faithful, Lord, life is changed not ended, and when this earthly dwelling turns to dust, an eternal dwelling is made ready for them in heaven.

And so, with Angels and Archangels, with Thrones and Dominions, and with all the hosts and Powers of heaven, we sing the hymn of your glory, as without end we acclaim:

A. – Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts. Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

EUCHARISTIC PRAYER II C. – You are indeed Holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness.

Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray, by sending down your Spirit upon them like the dewfall, so that they may become for us the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.

At the time He was betrayed and entered willingly into His Passion, He took bread and, giving thanks, broke it, and gave it to His disciples, saying: TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND EAT OF IT, FOR THIS IS MY BODY, WHICH WILL BE GIVEN UP FOR YOU.

In a similar way, when supper was ended, He took the chalice and, once more giving thanks, he gave it to His disciples, saying: TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND DRINK FROM IT, FOR THIS IS THE CHALICE OF MY BLOOD, THE BLOOD OF THE NEW AND ETERNAL COVENANT, WHICH WILL BE POURED OUT FOR YOU AND FOR MANY FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS. DO THIS IN MEMORY OF ME.

C. – The mystery of faith.

A. – We proclaim your Death, O Lord, and profess your Resurrection until you come again.

C. – Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of His Death and Resurrection, we offer you, Lord, the Bread of life and the Chalice of salvation, giving thanks that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you. Humbly we pray that, partaking of the Body and Blood of Christ, we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit.

Remember, Lord, your Church, spread throughout the world, and bring her to the fullness of charity, together with Francis our Pope and Peter our Bishop and all the clergy.

Remember your servant Elaine whom you have called from this world to yourself. Grant that she who was united with your Son in a death like His, may also be one with Him in His Resurrection. Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection, and all who have died in your mercy: welcome them into the light of your face.

Have mercy on us all, we pray, that with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, with blessed Joseph, her Spouse, with the blessed Apostles, and all the Saints who have pleased you throughout the ages, we may merit to be coheirs to eternal life, and may praise and glorify you through your Son, Jesus Christ.

Through Him, and with Him, and in Him, O God, almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honour is yours, for ever and ever.

A. – Amen. COMMUNION RITE THE LORD’S PRAYER

C. – At the Saviour’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say:

A. – Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

C. – Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.

A. – For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and for ever.

SIGN OF PEACE C. – Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your Apostles: Peace I leave

you, my peace I give you; look not on our sins, but on the faith of your Church, and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will. Who live and reign for ever and ever.

A. – Amen. C. – The peace of the Lord be with you always. A. – And with your spirit. C. – Let us offer each other the sign of peace. BREAKING OF BREAD A. – Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world,

have mercy on us. Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us. Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, grant us peace.

COMMUNION C. – Behold the Lamb of God, behold him who takes away the

sins of the world. Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb.

A. – Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my

roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed. COMMUNION MUSIC Be Not Afraid (St Louis Jesuits) Text: Isaiah 43: 2-3, Luke 6:20ff; Bob Dufford, SJ, b.1943 Tune: Bob Dufford, Sj, b.1943; acc. By Sr. Theophane Hytrek, OSF, 1915-1992 © 1975, Robert J. Dufford, SJ, and New Dawn Music

You shall cross the barren desert, But you shall not die of thirst. You shall wander far in safety Though you do not know the way. You shall speak your words in foreign lands And all will understand. You shall see the face of God and live. Refrain: Be not afraid.

I go before you always. Come follow Me And I will give you rest.

If you pass through raging waters in the sea, You shall not drown. If you walk amid the burning flames, You shall not be harmed. If you stand before the pow’r of hell And death is at your side, Know that I am with you through it all. Refrain

Blessed are your poor, For the kingdom shall be theirs. Blest are you that weep and mourn, For one day you shall laugh. And if wicked tongues insult and hate you All because of me, Blessed, blessed are you! All'alba vincerò Vincerò, Vincerò PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION

PHOTOGRAPHIC REFLECTION Love is Kind, Love is Wine & I'll Never Find Another You (Mirusia) FINAL COMMENDATION C. – Before we go our separate ways, let us take leave of our

sister. May our farewell express our affection for her, may it ease our sadness and strengthen our hope. One day we shall joyfully greet her, when the love of Christ, which conquers all things, destroys even death itself.

SONG OF FAREWELL C. – Saints of God, come to her aid! Hasten to meet her, angels of

the Lord. A. – Receive her soul and present her to God the Most High. C. – May Christ, who called you, take you to himself; may angels

lead you to the bosom of Abraham. A. – Receive her soul and present her to God the Most High. C. – Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord and let perpetual light

shine upon her. A. – Receive her soul and present her to God the Most High.

PRAYER OF COMMENDATION

C. – Into your hands, Father of mercies, we commend our sister Elaine, in the sure and certain hope that, together with all who have died in Christ, she will rise with Him on the last day. Merciful Lord, turn to us and listen to our prayers, open the gates of paradise to your servant and help us who remain to comfort one another with the assurances of faith, until we all meet in Christ and are with you and with our sister for ever.

A. – Amen. C. – May the angels lead you into paradise, may the martyrs come

to welcome you and take you into the holy city, the new and eternal Jerusalem. Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace.
