SERviCE Of ThE WORd ANddiSTRibuTiON Of hOLy COMMuNiON
Firstly, I would like to thank all those who lead our serviceevery Tuesday at 10am. These are women and men from ourfaith community who have with dignity and prayerfulattention ensured that every Tuesday there is a prayergathering in our church. We know that after Jesus had died, risen, and ascended into heaven that the disciples remainedfearful and confused. However, after Pentecost they tooktheir mission as Jesus had wanted, and they began toproclaim the good news of the kingdom.
Central to their mission was prayer with the community, ledby women and men, and we hear that in the description ofthe first church as it began in the Acts of the Apostles:
They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and tofellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyonewas filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed bythe apostles. 44All the believers were together and had everythingin common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give toanyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meettogether in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homesand ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God andenjoying the favour of all the people. And the Lord added to theirnumber daily those who were being saved. (Acts 2: 42-47)
Our service each Tuesday organised and offered within thiscontext and where possible I invite you to support it and ourfaith community. Fr. Tony
