Answers to FAQ – Applicants (for slide 9)1. We can conduct a broad and comprehensive number of checks as listed below, although we may not be asked to perform all of them for your particular application. 2. We recommend that you request that the organisation requesting the reports gives you a copy of the results. Some reports will be received by email, which they could then forward to you or print out. Completed Credit reports can be requested directly from us for a £10 administration charge.

3. Yes, however, the footprint — which we have to leave by law — is only visible to the individual on their credit file. It is not seen by any other companies and therefore is not taken into account when assessing them for future credit requests.

4. You are advised to contact the relevant organisation or individual directly. We strongly advise that you to notify your past employers in advance that Mason Marlowe will be contacting them.

If any of it is wrong, it could affect your ability to get credit.Here's how to correct the information held on your report:The electoral rollMason Marlowe only uses the edited version of the Electoral Roll, so if you have chosen to opt out of being listed on it, as is your right, our report will state that you are NOT on the Electoral Roll. If you have registered to vote and your credit report does not show this, please contact the credit reference agencies listed at the bottom of this article and they will investigate the matter. Please note that registration for the Electoral Roll is conducted in August each year, but our register may not be updated until the end of April in the following year.If you have not registered to vote, you may want to contact your local authority about filling in an electoral registration form. If you move home you can tell your local authority who will tell credit reference agencies about your change of registration in the course of the year.Court judgmentsIf you believe a county court judgment has been recorded incorrectly, you should contact the county court, quoting the case number included on your report. If the judgment was recorded incorrectly the county court will alter their records. Credit reference agencies are told about any such changes within four weeks, but if you give them original court documents, in the form of a Certificate of Satisfaction or Cancellation, they may be able to change their sooner if necessary. If you have paid a Scottish Decree, you should send Registry Trust (address below) a receipt or a letter from your creditor (known as the pursuer) to confirm your payment. If you write to Registry Trust Ltd questioning the accuracy of a judgment recorded on your report, asking for an entry to be changed, you should send a cheque for £4.50 to cover their search fee. If your bankruptcy has been discharged a record of it will be kept on your report but it will show that it has been discharged.Voluntary arrangementsIf you have any questions about a record of a voluntary arrangement you should contact the supervisor who dealt with your case. If you send documents from the supervisor to confirm that the information on your report needs to be changed, the agencies will change their records.Linked addressesLinks between your previous addresses, or any addresses you may use for correspondence, may be listed on your credit report. Answers to FAQ – Organisations (for slide 15)How do I order reports?Information requests can be ordered via the website. Our online system is powerful, secure and very easy to use. To begin ordering reports, Login/register now. For further information on how the Mason Marlow website works, click here.

How will my searches be returned to me?Completed reports can be returned via email, fax or mail, with email being the default option, when available.

How long until my account is active?Once you successfully register (see Login/register), we will activate your account within 3 business hours. Mason Marlowe reserves the right to deny any account application.

How long will completed reports be stored in your system?All of your completed reports will be stored indefinitely. With our system you will never have to worry about losing a report previously completed.

Will I still be charged if a search I request provides no results?In the very unlikely case that no results are available, you will still be charged. Whenever a search is ordered you will be charged for the service requested. Whether a record is found or not, costs have been incurred in order to complete the search request.

Will I have to sign a contract?The only contract you must agree to concerns the use of the information we provide. There is no usage contract and you may close your account at any time without a penalty. Prior to ordering any reports from Mason Marlowe, you will be required to agree to the Terms of use.

Mason Marlow has joined the U.S. Department of Commerce’s “Safe Harbor” program with respect to the EU Personal Data and utilizes such information in strict accordance with the Safe Harbor principles.

Mason Marlow is committed to protecting the privacy of personal data that is gathered and maintained on behalf of employers and clients requesting consumer data. We certify that, in relation to EU Personal Data, we adhere to the 7 “Safe Harbor Principles” of the United States Department of Commerce as outlined in the European Commission’s Directive on Data Protection (see below):

NOTICE Mason Marlow gathers and maintains consumer data which it provides to our clients (employers, financial institutions, other background screening or credit agencies, etc.) or their agents (such as recruiters or staffing firms) usually for use in making employment-related decisions (such as who to hire, retain, promote, or re-assign), for credit applications (to purchase a car, house, etc.) or for license applications (for professional or business purposes). It may also be utilised to conduct employee investigations where an employer has a suspicion of work related misconduct or wrongdoing, or an issue arises as to employee compliance with Federal, State, or local laws and regulations, or any employer policies. Human resource and security professionals within employer organizations will utilize this type of information. This notice also covers human resources data that is obtained by this service on behalf of employers or their agents. A consumer may find out more about the nature and scope of any inquiry that is made about them by contacting us (see Contact Us). 2. CHOICE (opt-out of sensitive Information)Mason Marlow affords individuals the opportunity to choose whether their personal information will be disclosed to a third party or will be used for a purpose incompatible with the purpose for which it was originally collected or subsequently authorized by the individual. Therefore, consumer data may be disseminated under these circumstances unless the consumer explicitly “opts-out.” Where a consumer chooses to “opt-out,” the data is not necessarily erased or deleted. Various laws require that the data be maintained on file for a specified period of time for consumer protection purposes. A consumer can “opt-out” by contacting Mason Marlow in writing or by e-mail.

3. ONWARD TRANSFER (TRANSFERS TO THIRD PARTIES) The information obtained by this site is forwarded only to an entity that has been authorized by a consumer to receive the data. or an agent of the end user operating on behalf of the end-user. The information is only provided to the employer for purpose described in the section under “Notice.” This site may also operate as an agent for a Consumer Reporting Agency as defined under the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Mason Marlow reserves the right to engage in reasonable efforts to confirm the identity of the individual requesting the data to ensure the information is provided only to the subject of the data. Under certain circumstances, a consumer is entitled to a free coy of their report. Under all circumstances, a consumer is entitled to a copy of their report under the terms of the FCRA. For a citizen of the EU, this service reserves the right to charge an administrative fee not to exceed $15 to cover the cost of reviewing our records to determine if a consumer is in our file, and the administrative cost of obtaining and forwarding any information. However, the service also reserves the right to engage in reasonable efforts to confirm the identity of any consumer requesting data, so that we only provide data to the consumer that is the subject of the data. Although we make every effort to ensure that the data we collect and store about on each individual is as accurate as possible, this service cannot guarantee that third parties are accurate in information that is transmitted and therefore we are not responsible for the data.
