We are honoured that MASMO (Malaysia ASEAN Schools Math Olympiads) Science Unit is inviting all Upper Primary and Lower Secondary students in Malaysia to participate in the 2nd MASMO Science Contest (Iken Scientifica).

This is a nationwide competition designed to promote hands-on learning by introducing students to a wide array of concepts, principles and materials to help them innovate and learn. MASMO (Iken Scientifica) endeavours to provide students a real world exposure through harnessing their inquisitiveness and curiosity hence bridging the gap between theory and practical learning. It provides children the opportunity to prove their mettle on a national platform and earn big rewards.

The competition is divided into four rounds as stated below. The first round is to select the top 20% of students from schools through a scientific aptitude and skills analysis test. These students will get to join Round 2.

* Enterprise Index : A combination of five parameters, namely, observation, analysis, extrapolation, practicality and memory. Students are given a percentage score in each skill based on their performance in the competition.

Last year, 11 students from our school joined and 2 of them managed to enter Round 2 which will be on 8th June 2013.

In order to encourage more students to join in this competition this year, the school will bear 50% of the Registration Fee. Thus, students who are interested to join will only need to pay RM32.

Thus, kindly return the permission slip and registration fee of RM32 by 8th April 2013 to the teacher-in-charge, Ms Sue Soh.
