Masconomet Music Parents Association

MMPA is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that was formed to support and enhance music education within

the Masconomet Regional School System. Through fundraising efforts, MMPA funds music education

opportunities, supplies, instruments and most importantly scholarships. Last year, $10,000 was

awarded for music lessons, enrichment programs and post graduate studies for students in grades 7 - 12.

Whether it be a chorus concert, orchestra concert, jazz festival, or any other musical event, you can be sure that a committee of volunteers will be somewhere

nearby raising funds and making themselves useful to the students and the hard-working faculty!

Any parent of a Masconomet student who participates in any band or choral group is automatically a member

of MMPA and their involvement is encouraged and warmly welcomed.

College ApprenticeOur Goal is to Prepare High School Students to Succeed in All Aspects of College. Each program is designed to give students marketable and practical skills to use in their future endeavors. Students should come away with real life experience, not simply theoretical knowledge. They will widen the scope of education as many high schools do not have the resources to offer an expanded curriculum that features business, communications, international relations, and other popular college majors. Students also begin to build a network and understand it importance to their future. At College Apprentice, the value of competition cannot be understated. First, students compete for acceptance into College Apprentice programs. We recruit the best students because we expect the best performance. Second, each program involves representing the United States at international competitions. This type of collaborative competition drives students to produce the best results.

16

Page 17: Masconomet 2014 Summer Camp Fairopportunities, supplies, instruments and most importantly scholarships. Last year, $10,000 was awarded for music lessons, enrichment programs and post

We also stress Education, not vacation. When exploring other summer programs, you'll quickly find many of them sound very much like a wonderful vacation! While travel experience is important, College Apprentice programs place an equal emphasis on educational experience. Students will become familiar with the case study format, used as the basis of learning in many universities and colleges. Lastly experience culture, don't just observe it. There's a major difference between ordering at a restaurant in another country and having to work with your peers to come up with a solution. That difference is what makes College Apprentice programs so unique. Meet, interact, and collaborate with peers from other countries to truly appreciate their experiences and views.College ApprenticePO Box 426006, Cambridge, MA 02142Ph: 816.226.6940 Email: [email protected]: www.collegeapprentice.com

TASP is accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA) every three years. The ACA’s Standards Program is the only nationally recognized program to monitor all aspects of a camp’s operation. Less than 2000 camps nationwide have earned this prestigious distinction. TASP is also a proud member of the Massachusetts Camping Association (MCA). Membership in MCA signifies a camp’s dedication to the camping industry and ensures that the camp is up-to-date on all of the latest legislative and regulatory requirements for operating a safe camp.Tabor Academy Summer Program66 Spring Street, Marion, MA 02738Ph: 508.291.8342 Email: [email protected]: http://taborsummer.org

William Lawrence CampSince 1913, William Lawrence is a traditional residential camp for boys that endeavors to provide a framework that will physically and mentally challenge a camper to become a “whole” person, not just a specialist. Values are stressed daily while teaching good citizenship and character. Our balanced program allows campers safe and supportive opportunities to expand their base of skills while enhancing self-confidence and self-esteem. The program includes many waterfront activities, team sports, wilderness trips, target sports including riflery, archery and skeet shooting, a challenge course featuring low and high elements, fly fishing and fly tying, arts and crafts, woodworking and more. A relatively small camp with an excellent camper to staff ratio, boys feel at home in our family atmosphere. We have a loyal, professional staff, a beautiful facility and excellent food.William Lawrence CampPO Box 52, Center Tuftonboro, NH 03816Ph: 603.569.3698 Email: [email protected]: www.WLCamp.org
