MASBATE, DARREN ANCIR D.Problem and its BackgroundIn the
Philippines, trauma centers are located inside hospitals. There is
no specific specialized center for trauma cases. They are only
given a ward for their cases. All trauma cases are put together in
one ward.
For the patients, it is a long process for an adult to recover
from trauma if he or she already experienced it when he or she is
still young. It is better for a patient of trauma to be cure during
his childhood days.
Study shows that through design, it can help patients to recover
from psychological trauma. For the children, it can help them to
recover if they can interact with the facilities.
Research MethodsIn conducting this proposal, a specific research
and deeper understanding of the problem will solve its design
solution. The content of this data will be based on the relevant
studies gathered by the proponent.
Qualitative MethodIn order to gather enough information about
medical spas the researcher will conduct the following method:

Site DescriptionThe project is Institutionalize Center for Post
Trauma for Pediatric Cases which is located at 1st avenue
Southwoods Bian Laguna. The proposal will fit the location because
it is near devastated area which can serve as evacuation center and
rehabilitation for the victims as well. It is also a good location
because of its good environment which can help patients
recovery.
Site AnalysisSlope analysis
Bian slope is relatively flat (0-3 % slope)85.33% (3,711.86
has.) level to gently sloping, 14.67% gently sloping to undulating
along western portions of Brgys. Bian and HalangModerate seasonal
flooding during rainy seasons along Platero, San Antonio, Casile,
Poblacion, Malaban, and De La Paz (adjacent to lake), and west of
Brgy. Bian (suggests inadequate drainage facilities)

Research FocusThe overall design of the project has a new
approach in terms of its spaces to promote the emotional and
wellbeing design part of the proposal. Basically, the proposal has
its uniqueness of spaces relating users activity inside the

Concept DevelopmentArchitectural conceptThe design concept of
the proposal consist of the following:The first design concept is a
playground. The proponent choose this concept because the center is
for pediatric cases. The concept of a playground can help patients
to recover through its interactive design. Playground are known to
be a kids favorite place to play. It can attract patients to
rehabilitate without forcing them to go to a trauma center.
Space and Form Evolution
Structural ConceptThe structural concept used is anti-earthquake
building. This is because trauma center is a place to forget the
past and it will help to prevent patients to remember the bad
calamities they experienced. In this technology, vibration damping
is designed to incorporate damping element into the structure to
absorb vibration. Second is seismic isolation. Which employs to
element to isolate the building foundation to prevent vibration
from being transmitted directly to the building.
Utility ConceptThe first utility concept of the structure is an
interactive wall for lighting. The innovative Interactive Musical
Wall gives children the gift of a fun distraction when they need it
the most. Another example that includes both light and sound
(music) is the Interactive Musical Wall by the Moment Factory
Studio at the waiting room of Montreals CHU Sainte-Justine
Childrens Hospital.
Second utility concept is fire protection. A health facility
should always have fire protection system. It will help the
patients to feel the safety inside the structure.
