IntroductionWelcome to the fi rst quarterly E magazine designed and produced exclusively for The Maryland Capitols FC – WPSL Eastern Conference South Division Champions 2012.

We hope you enjoy everything we have put together and hope to bring you up to the minute news, features, player announcements, special subscriber off ers and any other exciting news we have for you as we go through the remainder of the year in preparation for the WPSL season 2013 and beyond.

In this issue we take a look back at the 2012 WPSL season, some of the highs and the lows and some of the players that contributed to a historic fi rst season in the WPSL

Our fi rst season in the WPSL was fantastic, to win the division by 6 points and be among the highest scorers in the whole league was phenomenal, to lose in the fi rst round of the playoff s though was disappointing and I’m sure if that game was played again it would end in a diff erent result.

Never the less to be as competitive as we were with the quality of players we had on board bodes well for the future of the club and we have many current projects we are working on to not only improve things on and off the fi eld but to provide you, the soccer supporter, with a team you can really feel part of.

Don’t forget to follow us on twitter @MDCapitolsFC and bear with us as our exciting new club website is in its fi nal stages of being revamped.

Enjoy Soccer.

Ali AndrzejewskiAli Andrzejewski is a Baltimore native who grew playing youth soccer for the # 1 nationally ranked, Bethesda Dragons. She then attended the University of Maryland for 2 years where she was the leading scorer her freshman year. Ali transferred to Loyola College where she broke the scoring records in only two years, and was 2-time conference player of the year for soccer and conference student-athlete of the year for all conference sports. Ali also played on the Youth US National teams for seven years. With the U-21 National team she competed in several international games including winning the gold medal at the Nordic Cup.

Ali played for the 2007 National Championship team, the Washington Freedom. At the end of the 2007 season Ali was the 2nd leading scorer in the country and leading scorer for the Freedom. Ali was named to the all-conference team in her rookie debut and continued to play with the Freedom for 1 more year until she was picked up by the Colorado Force. Ali periodically flew out to Colorado to compete in games for the Force’s 2010 season while residing in Baltimore.

Ali currently plays for the Maryland Capitols, 2012 WPSL Conference Champions, and runs Champions Soccer Training out of Baltimore, MD and the central American Mission effort, More Than Futbol. More Than Futbol uses soccer as a tool to bring hope to those living in extreme poverty in Nicaragua, Belize, and Costa Rica. Local soccer families pull together to collect new and gently used soccer equipment, clothes, and shoes. Each January More Than Futbol takes a 3 week trip to Central America, running soccer camps, distributing gear, and teaching community leaders how to coach. Check out the blog from out last trip at MoreThanFutbol.blogspot.com.

Q & A

Question: How did your past playing experience and being the fi rst Captain of the Maryland Capitols FC help with the 2012 season?

Anabel: “Being the captain of the MD Capitols FC was a great experience. As one of the veteran players of the group I enjoyed being a leader for such a great bunch of girls and talent. This summer was the fi rst inaugural season in the existence of the Capitiols and I felt we had a more than successful season by only losing one regular season game and making the playoff s. “

Question: With a lot of players playing together for the fi rst time and playing at diff erent colleges and teams previously, What was your impression on the squad as a whole over the season?

Anabel: “There were a lot of players on the team that had never played together and a lot of young players, but with some time we developed a rhythm with the core of the team. I think next year will only be better with returners coming back, new talent, and a new found recognition in the WPSL League and the DC, MD, and VA area.”

When I opened my fi rst practice in Rockville eighteen years ago my goal was to make a diff erence in my community, and really help others attain health and well being. I immediately loved and respected my profession because it positively impacted so many lives. Further, the concept of health and wellness through natural, eff ective methods made so much sense to me. Today, the passion for helping others is omnipotent at Sport and Spine Rehab, and fuels an inner fi re in every SSR employee which, in turn, continues to build a celebrated company with unmatched achievements and honors.

In 2007, we were the fi rst multi-location practice in the entire United States that was recognized by the National

Committee on Quality Assurance in their Back Pain Recognition Program. In 2009, we were awarded “America’s Best-Loved Practice” by Drscore.com for holding the top one-through-seven positions for patient satisfaction in their database of over 80,000 providers across the US.Now, in 2011, I am proud to announce that Sport and Spine Rehab has been named to Inc. magazine’s Inc. 5000 list of fastest growing private companies in America. That is an honor that has been previously enjoyed by companies like Oracle, Microsoft, Under Armour, and Jiff y Lube. Although I don’t think my goal back in those early days was to build Microsoft, it is amazing to think that Sport and Spine Rehab is sharing a similar path with such respected and successful organizations.

Sport and Spine Rehab’s Mission is to Facilitate and Maximize the Health and Well-being for the Public, one life at a time, and this honor confi rms we have touched many, many lives and will continue to touch many more as we grow to greater heights. To be very clear, the only reason these awards and honors have been bestowed on us is because of our amazing SSR family. Every single person in our company striving for perfection (can you say Six Sigma?) in everything we do is the essence of our being. And, when we don’t always reach perfection, we learn so we can do better the next time. I’m so proud and fortunate to work with such an amazing group of individuals who truly breathe our values and live our mission.

Sport and Spine Rehab provides state of the art comprehensive care by combining chiropractic, physical therapy, rehabilitation and patient education to eliminate symptoms, restore full function and promote a healthy lifestyle. Our highly qualifi ed doctors provide care to a wide range of patients for a variety

of musculoskeletal conditions.

To our many corporate partners and friends, we would like to thank all of you who have supported our organization in the past and continue to support us in the present. The future is so bright, you better put on your Maui Jims!Because of all of you collectively -the SSR family of employees, the patients, the friends and partners – Sport and Spine Rehab has earned position number 4492 on the 2011 Inc. 5000 list of fastest growing companies in America. That’s both humbling and awesome all at the same time! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
