More Childhood Facts● She spent multiple hours at

● The theatre was her escape.● “When I was five, we moved

to Virginia and lived inside an old fort that was

surrounded by a moat. So when I heard stories of

American history, I felt as if those dramas were taking

place right in my own backyard. Maybe those

early environments explain why mythical and historical times and places seem more real to me than the modern world of shopping malls and

freeways.” - Mary Pope Osborne

Children/Pets● Mary Pope Osborne

does not have any children, but she does have a dog named Bailey that she loves her very much

● In an interview, she describes Bailey as “the most disobedient dog who ever lived”

Lindsay Guill
The interview I found about her pets was from 2003, so this may not be true now... I can't find anything else though. If y'all find something more recent, feel free to change/add to anything I put!
Lindsay Guill
I also just found something that said she has 2 dogs named Joey and Mr. Bezo but it was in a comment on wiki answers.. so I don't know how true that is.
Katie Owenby
I also have found things that say she has just Bailey and then that she has the two dogs so I am not sure which it is
Caitlynn Miller
I've just seen things primarily about Bailey too.

Osborne has traveled to most of the places her books are written about.

One of her favorite books is A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett.

Page 17: Mary Pope Osborne

She always wanted a tree house, but never received one; her book series was a way of receiving it.

She does not want her books made into movies. “I want kids to have these adventures in their imaginations. This, I believe, is best accomplished by reading a book.”
