Dear Brothers and Sisters, What a wonderful spiritual and prayerful time ahead. Trenton Diocese Year of Youth: As you can see from our bulletin our Diocesan Year of Youth has

begun and will officially kick-off on the afternoon of October 14 with mass celebrated by Bishop O’Connoll and then fun activities for all the family. I truly hope we, as a parish family, will attend this celebration. To Jesus through Mary: This weekend you will receive a book on ’Consecration to Jesus through Mary,’ in preparation for the Torch of Our Lady of Guadalupe Nov 10—Nov 17. This is a wonderful opportunity for families to set some time aside to pray as a family, to discuss family issues and bring these issues to Jesus through Mary, His Mother. Many of us have lost the ability to pray—we know the Our Father & Hail Mary but we don’t know how to pray: to speak to God, listen to God, hear God speak. These 33 days of going to Jesus through His Mother is a wonderful opportunity to reconnect to God and to the parish and as a family at home. The wonderful aspect of these 33 days is that we are doing this as a parish family—each evening we will gather in St Mary Church at 7pm to pray and at Holy Assumption after morning mass. If you are unable to come physically to the church and have access to Wi-Fi then join us by going to the parish website: www.mmotcp.org and scroll down to the bottom you will see ’St Mary Church Live Stream’ click on that and you are with us. ‘May the Lord bless us all the days of our lives.’ Ps. 128:5 ~ Fr. Martin

Happy Birthday Patricia Solimine!

Mary, Mother of the Church Parish welcomes the Torch of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas, November 10-17 2018

To help prepare our parish and ourselves I would like to consecrate our parish and ourselves to Jesus through Mary.

What is Consecration and Why Do It?

On Nov 10th, at our 5pm Vigil Mass, we will be so honored to receive the Torch of Our Lady of Guadalupe; Father Martin will consecrate our parish, Mary, Mother of the Church Parish to Jesus through Mary. Consecration means to set time aside or give oneself time for a sacred purpose. The consecration is 33 days of gentle reflection on Jesus’ love for us and how His Mother, Mary, directs us to that love. We will begin the consecration as a par-

ish on October 8th. You can pray the prayers on your own or you can join with Mary, Mother of the Church parish community. We will be gathering at 7pm every night at St. Mary Church, Bordentown and after morning mass in Holy Assumption Church, Roebling. A beautiful book of Consecration to Jesus through Mary will be given to all families after all masses the weekend of October 6th & 7th at both church sites.

Begin the 33-Day Preparation for Consecration

Now begins the 33-day period of exercises. St. Louis-Marie breaks these days into sections of days, each section having its own prayers, and each particular day having its own brief readings with which to fill the

mind for that day (the readings come from Sacred Scripture, "The Imitation of Christ," and "True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary"). Don't just read the readings, internalize them; don't let your lips just mouth the prayers, truly pray them. First comes a 12-day preparation period that consists of emptying oneself of the spirit of the world, which is contrary to that of Jesus Christ, in order to acquire fully the spirit of Jesus Christ through the Blessed Virgin. Hence, the practices suggested by St. Louis De Montfort are re-nouncement of the world and knowledge of self, of the Blessed Virgin and of Jesus Christ. The first week focuses on offering up our prayers and devotions for the purpose of coming to

understand ourselves and our sins; humility is the key, and the prayers the Litany of the Holy Spirit, the Lit-any of Loreto, and the Ave Maris Stella help us. During the second week, we ask the Holy Spirit to help us better understand the Blessed Virgin; we pray the Litany of the Holy Spirit, the Litany of Loreto, the Ave Maris Stella, the prayer to Mary by St. Louis-Marie, and 5 decades of the Holy Rosary each day for assistance. During the third week, we seek to better understand Christ through meditation and the Litany of the Holy Spirit, the Ave Maris Stella, and the Litany of the Holy Name of Jesus, Montfort's prayer to Jesus, and the prayer O Jesus Living in Mary. For more information on preparation for consecration, our parish hosting of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Traveling Torch and all the events and activities planned please call: Maria Guzman-Paczkowski at 609-403-7154 or email [email protected]. “Consecrating ourselves to Mary means accepting her help to offer ourselves and the whole of humanity to him who is holy, infinitely holy; it means accepting her help—by having recourse to her motherly heart, which beneath the cross was opened to love for every human being, for the whole world—in order to offer the world, the individual human be-

ing, humanity as a whole, and all the nations to him who is infinitely holy” (Pope John Paul II May 13, 1982).

If you are unable to come physically to St. Mary’s Church but have access to Wi-Fi, then join us by going to the parish website: www.mmotcp.org and scroll down to the bottom you will

MUM SALE AND WHO SUPPORT OUR CONFER-ENCE THROUGH YOUR MONTHLY DONATION! You heard in this weekends Gospel how the Reign of God is for those who are like children, the poor, the hungry and the dispossessed - persons whose rights and dignity are often ignored. As Vincentian’s, we serve these children of God, and you, through your generosity and support, serve them as well.
