Content Manager Bellevue Girls Lacrosse Association, Bellevue, WA (June 2009 through present) Designed and implemented www.belax.org a WordPress-‐based website. The project included the following:

Microsoft Corporation, Project Manager Entirenet, LLC (December 2005 – July 2009, contract and permanent positions) Redmond, WA Managed a team of three writers who rewrote more than 50 “Smart Chart” Help topics for Microsoft Office. The rewrite was based on data collected from customer feedback, using the Office Content Studio publishing system. Wrote and maintained several Help systems for the Microsoft Windows Live suite, including Windows Live Spaces, Events, Groups, and Profile. Wrote and maintained Help system for Windows Live OneCare and OneCare Small Business Server. Used my skills in the following way:
• Worked closely with Product Manager and Product Support team to ensure the technical accuracy of topics and identify and remediate portions of the existing Help system that could be improved.
• Worked with constant, changing, tight deadlines in the agile software/SCRUM development method. The average ship cycle for these projects was 12 weeks.
• Used XML sku tags to single source content, with a constant focus on reducing localization costs.
• Created graphics in PhotoshopCS3, which were used by Microsoft Online Services and Microsoft Office Online.
• Created Camtasia videos used on Microsoft and Entirenet websites to demonstrate how to accomplish a task with a piece of software.
• Mentored and directed the work of less-‐experienced writers on the team.

Managed or wrote more than 7,000 quicktip Help topics through the complete writing and editing cycle. Worked closely with Developers to resolve Help ID conflicts. Debugged quicktip Help, monitored Raid.
Microsoft Corporation, Senior Technical Writer Redmond, WA (June 1997 – December 1997) Microsoft Office 98 for Macintosh Updated small card Help for Equation Editor and other features of Microsoft Word. Updated Balloon Help content for Microsoft Office and wrote new Balloon Help content for Macintosh-‐specific features.
Microsoft Corporation, Technical Writer Redmond, WA (January 1997 – May 1997) Microsoft Cinemania and Microsoft Music Central, Technical Writer User Education Lead. Researched different Internet Service Provider and connection issues, then wrote HTML Troubleshooting pages for the Cinemania and Music Central web sites.
Microsoft Press and Catapult, Technical Writer Redmond, WA (January 1996 – May 1996) Step by Step for Microsoft Windows NT Workstation Sole writer for Step by Step for Microsoft Windows NT Workstation, a 250 page self-‐paced instructional book that helps entry-‐level users learn the basics about using Microsoft Windows NT Workstation. Coordinated content development with editors at both Catapult and Microsoft Press. Incorporated editorial comments and ensured technical accuracy throughout entire development cycle. Microsoft Corporation, Technical Writer Redmond, WA (November 1995 -‐-‐ August 1996) Microsoft Office 97 Sole writer for Microsoft Query 97 Help file. Researched technical content by working closely with Program Management. Coordinated style and content with the Microsoft Office 97 Help team. Helped the Answer Wizard team create appropriate and technically accurate questions for the Answer Wizard. Fixed Help compiler bugs.
Microsoft Corporation, Technical Writer Redmond, WA (January 1995 -‐-‐ October 1995) Microsoft Schedule+ and Microsoft Exchange Acted as Documentation Lead for Microsoft Schedule+. Wrote proposal to write Help so that localization costs were minimized. Proposal was implemented. Scheduled work and then wrote more than 300 Help topics. Attended Leads meetings. Compiled Help and fixed bugs. Coordinated hand-‐off to localization. Established change-‐tracking system.
Microsoft Works for Windows 95, Technical Writer (October 1993 -‐-‐ November 1994) Wrote more than 200 Help topics for the Microsoft Works Spreadsheet tool. The Help system is organized using information mapping, and topics were written to fit this model. Conceptualized and created art orders.
Volunteer experience 2009 – present Board member, Bellevue Girls Lacrosse Association Designed and currently maintain the website for this recreational girl’s lacrosse club at http://www.belax.org. 2004-‐2006 Community Service Chairperson The Little School, Bellevue, WA For two full years, led four major community-‐service campaigns (each year), including scheduling events, publicity, and delivering collected items to selected not-‐for-‐profit organizations within our community:
• 1000+ pounds of food for Northwest Harvest, with increased participation in 2nd year.
• 300+ new and used books for Eastside Baby Corner, with increased participation in 2nd year.
• 50+ used coats and clothing for Eastside Baby Corner, with increased participation in 2nd year.
• Coin drive to benefit Hopelink, where we collected twice as much money as the nearest school…with ¼ of the student population! Increased participation in 2nd year.
2003 Publicity Chairperson, Auction Committee Somerset Elementary School, Bellevue, WA Wrote publicity-‐oriented articles highlighting the importance of supporting the school auction. Articles appeared in the school newsletter, which is read by more than 450 Somerset Elementary School families. Created high-‐quality posters advertising different ways to donate to the auction. Wrote press-‐releases which were published in community newsletters.
