    Publishers Preface

We need absolutely realize that God is in the business to save sinners, of

whom we are the chief. That it matters not how deep in sin we may be, if webut depart from evil and choose to do good He will gladly grant us

forgiveness. For in reality God is more willing to save us than we of

    ourselves.

Let us ever remember that self is the only barrier between us and God, and

that God will never force us to come to Him. Let us ask Him for power to use

the grace He so freely provides. He would not have made us free moral agents

if He did not expect us to use our wills. We should ask Him to help us to be

willing to be made willing, and then join our wills to His, and so work outour own salvation with fear and trembling. We need the strength of God toresist all evil to overcome the world as Jesus overcame.

    Dear Brothers and Sisters;

We should remember, moreover, that it is not possible that God should

leave a one of us in darkness if we really want to know the Truth and if weare mindful of what God would have us to do. Inspiration declared: God will

not let you be deceived if you really hunger and thirst after righteousness, if

you really want to know the Truth, for He is anxious that you keep up with

His progressively revealed Truth. There is therefore no danger for one to be

deceived by coming in contact with error, but there is a great danger forstaying in darkness by not coming in contact with fresh Truth. (1 TG 12:18)

Consequently, the greatest danger of the people has not been theirlistening to error but their rejecting present Truth. (3 TR 10, 11) For each

seal were to be saved by each new Truth which is the Spirit of Life. (1 SR

    MARVELS OF TYPOLOGY,ALLEGORIES AND

    PROVIDENCES THROUGH BIBLE NUMERICS

Lets begin with2 SR 100 It is open disobedience to the plain thus saith the Lord that

has brought about confusion and disgrace in the Christian world at the presenttime. True the reformers saw not all these errors, and were not responsible,

for they had no light upon them. As God has given light upon His Word, bydegrees, making it possible to grasp the truth, He expects us to receive it, and

thus lead us to the victory.

But one may say, if God could save others with less light, why should Hegive us more light? Of the many reasons we shall comment on only two. By

increased light on the Word, God is able to save a multitude instead of a few.

The second reason is, as the last part of the church will be translated instead

of resurrected, we need sufficient light to prepare us to meet God andimmortal beings. (2 SR 100)

1 SR p.e. 33-37In the stream of this most instructive typology on thesubject, we are now carried along to its climaxing feature

    JACOBS DREAM.

On the first night of his flight from the murderous wrath of Esau, Jacob, using a stone for a pillow, lay down to rest:

And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of itreached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending

    on it. Gen. 28:12.

What does the dream mean? -- Being another facet of the same typology, it

must necessarily be a prefigurement of a note-worthy event to overtake Gods

    people, the Jacobites.

Since the ladder, with one end on the earth and the other in heaven,

symbolizes Christ (Patriarchs And Prophets, p. 184), and since the angels

walking up and down the ladder are His messengers (The Great

Controversy, p. 512), the whole signifies that Christ

    - shall establish through Himself a sure and constant communication between

    heaven and earth.

And it shall come to pass in that day, I will hear saith the Lord, I will hear

the heavens, and they shall hear the earth. Hos. 2:21

The next step in the typology takes into consideration

    THE MOTHERS OF JACOBS DESCENDANTS

Along the chronological path of this numerous-phased typology, we nowin thought follow Jacob on to Padan-Aram. There he took unto himself four

wives -- Leah and Rachel, the daughters of Laban; then Zilpah and Bilhah,

their respective maids. These four were the mothers of the twelve sons ofJacob, who in turn were the fathers of the twelve tribes of Israel.

In this type-progression of spiritual Israel, only one of the four, Leah, was

Jacobs legal wife. Only she, therefore, can typify the true and legal church --

the one which was organized in Jerusalem by the twelve-tribe kingdom, and

which finally evolved into the Christian Church.

    .5

    7/47

Rachel must necessarily represent a sister church -- the one organized in

Samaria by the ten-tribe kingdom and dispersed with it among the Gentiles.

Zilpah and Bilhah, being strangers and servants to Leah and Rachel, must necessarily represent subsequent churches of Gentile origin.

From these four lines descended the antitypical children of Israel. And

what is true in the physical genealogy must be true also in the spiritual

genealogy. Hence, while the antitypical, like the typical, twelve tribes comethrough both Israelite and Gentile mothers, yet they are begotten by one and

    the same father-- an Israelite.

Dispersed by God throughout the Gentile nations, both Judah (the two-

tribe kingdom) and Israel (the ten-tribe kingdom) were swallowed up by

them. Then, too, the Christian Church, herself but an upshoot from the JewishChurch (Christs disciples and apostles, as well as the churchs early converts,

were purely Jews, remember), dropped her Old Testament title Jewish as

she took her New Testament title Christian. Then she gradually lost her

Jewish foliage amid the foliage of the ingrafted Gentile branches.

Now as we leave this phase of the typology, we enter that of

    JACOBS JOURNEY HOMEWARD.

After twenty years of faithful service in Padan-Aram, in the sharp,

overreaching employ of Laban, his uncle, Jacob at last turned his face and his

steps homeward toward his fathers house in the land of promise.

But trouble overtook him. While grappling with his fears as to the

outcome of his imminent meeting with Esau, there wrestled a man with him

until the breaking of the day. Gen. 32:24

Here lay down the man Jacob and rose up the man Israel, exemplifying the

agonizing experience through which his posterity must victoriously passbefore they, too, receive a new name, pass from sons of Jacob to sons of God,

become Israelites indeed. Having gained the victory over this test, the time

of Jacobs trouble, they will reach home, the land of promise -- the happy

end of their long and troubled journey.

On this trying and testing time the Spirit of Prophecy comments: Adecree went forth to slay the saints, which caused them to cry day and nightfor deliverance.

    - This was the time of Jacobs trouble --Early Writings, pp. 36, 37. (See

also Patriarchs and Prophets, pp. 202, 203.)

Now, as Jacobs retirement from his servitude in Padan-Aram ends with

his returning home, the typology continues with --

    ISRAELS GOING INTO EGYPT

That the Bible reveals its tremendous truths in divers ways -- in numerics,

in symbols and figures, in parables and allegories, in dreams and visions, in

types and providences -- is even more fully recognized in the anomalousexperience of ancient Israels going into Egypt. In it every informed Bible

student discerns, not mere happenstance, but purposive design wrought by the

omnipotent hand of Providence. Indeed, Joseph himself, the principalcharacter in the great drama, so avouches it: God did send me before you,

he declares, to preserve life. Gen. 45:5. (1 SR p.e. 33-37)

descending on it. Gen. 28:12. The ladder represents Christ; God, the Father

stood above it; Jacob at the foot of it. (Gen. 28:13). This dream gave Jacobgreat courage, and he made a vow to God.

Jacob was now to become the father of Israel (12 tribes) through whom

many nations shall be blessed; a type of Israel by the promise, the 12 tribes,

the 144,000. The dream which he had in the night was only a vision andrepresentation of some future event. The meaning of the dream can be only

one thing. If the ladder represents Christ, the angels as messengers, God the

Father at the head, and Jacob at the foot, it means a complete connection withheaven and the true Israel,--the latter rain, the loud cry of the third angels

    message. See Rev. 18:1 (1 SR 61)

1 SR 228, 229 It was Jacob, who, in the night, on the way to Padan-Aram had the dream of the great ladder which reached from earth to heaven,

and the angels of God ascended and descended upon it. This vision was a

representation of the Latter Rain, and the Loud Cry of the third angels

message in the time of harvest. The ladder, representing Christ; the angels,

the messengers; God the Father at one end, and Jacob at the other, meaning acomplete connection with heaven and earth.

Though the duration of this last section of probationary time (entitled

Israel), is shorter than any of the periods before it, it is to be the most glorious

time of Gods church. The prophet Isaiah, looking forward to this time, says,Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O

Jerusalem, the holy city: forhenceforth thereshall no more come into thee the

uncircumcised and the unclean. Never before this time in view, has Gods

church kept entirely free from the unconsecrated and unconverted (tares:

uncircumcised and unclean) in the midst of her, but now the time has comewhere He must purify His church and keep her as such. Zephaniah, referring

to this time, says, The remnant of Israel shall not do iniquity, nor speak lies.

    Zephaniah 3:13. (1 SR 228, 229)

    Symbol Of Struggle

The children struggled before they were delivered. In this, too, must be a

lesson. It is intended to point out the time when the application is made. It has

been defined by the fathers age that the lesson is for a later period. The

childrens struggle was before they were delivered; the lesson, then, is for

Gods people just before they are delivered

    THE TIME AND CHURCH

The lesson can not be in two churches. Why? Because they are born from

one mother. They must come under the same message. Why? Because they

are begotten by the same father. If this is the generation that will witness the

end, and the church that shall be delivered and be translated without tasting

death, then this must be the time to which this lesson applies. Now the

question is, In which church shall it find its fulfillment? It can only find itsfulfillment in Gods true church. If the Protestant churches have fallen and aretermed Babylon, then they have neither part nor lot in this lesson. If the

Seventh-day Adventist church is the true Israel, and has a message which no

other organization teaches; and if the message we bear is, the advent of Christ

and the end of the world in this generation, then this is the church. (1 SR 54)

As God is infallible, all His works spell perfection even to one jot or

one title. (1 SR 232) With its interrelated subjects coming into clear, harmonious focus, shows that the entire formula of the plan of redemption is

    completely unfolded.Inspiration declared:

    - for sinners, and our misconception of so-called human knowledge of things.

To the eternal I AM, who inhabits eternity, before whom the darkness is

light, and the remotest boundaries in space His footstool, who sees the endfrom the beginning, and to whom a thousand years are but as yesterday, all

things are open and naked unto Him

Said the Psalmist, Whither shall I go from Thy spirit? or whither shall I

flee from Thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, Thou art there. If I makemy bed in hell, behold, Thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning, and

dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; even there shall Thy hand lead me, and

Thy right hand shall hold me. If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me;even the night shall be light about me.Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee;but the night shineth as the day:The darkness and the light are both a like to

Thee....Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attainunto it. Psalm 139:7-12, 6. The wisdom and knowledge of the infinite is

beyond comprehension by the finite. The wonders we behold, and the events

which make the history of our world are but duplicates from the blueprints in

heaven. (1 SR 231)1934 Tract 3 pg. 65 There are two unseen powers that guide the

destinies of men and the affairs of the

    - world with a terrible exactness. Though the wicked feel a pressure which

they cannot resist, or remove, they see it not and understand it not, because

the Word alone giveth light and giveth power. Blessed is the man whose Godis the Lord. Is the Word in dark parables to you? Your own answer will tell

you of which class you are, and only your relation with God can help you.

If you think Christ remained 40 days after the resurrection undesignedly; if

you think the Holy Ghost fell on the 120 just because there happened to bethat many; if you think that 12,000 out of each tribe were sealed by chance,

then you might as well think the fact that 12 times 12,000 equals 144,000 is a

mathematical accident. Your own conclusion to this vital question shouldshow you the amount of light there is in you. (1934 Tract 3 pg. 65)

1934 Tract 3 pg. 67 The Scriptures often employ mathematical meansin defining existence of time, and number of years from one Biblical event toanother. The number of days from the wave-sheaf to the Pentecost was

derived by multiplying 7 x 7, which equals 49. In like manner the number of

years from one Jubilee to another was determined by multiplying the seven

sabbatical years by seven, the sum of which is 49.

    13

  • 8/22/2019 Marvels of Typology, Allegories and Providences Through Bible Numerics

    15/47

    - Therefore, multiplication is a common Scriptural method of teaching truth.

This subject to some may seem as strange as the thought of the earthrevolving on its axis was to the inhabitants of another day. Nevertheless,

incredible things often become plain facts. Hence, though we little know of

the many Biblical numbers and their secret code of truth at the present time,

they are not always to be dark elements to Gods people, for they must be

there to discover and illuminate to our vision the sign posts on our way to theHoly City. Shall we not be thankful for every ray of light? Or shall we take a

chance in the darkness? I will say in prayer: O send out Thy light and Thy

truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto Thy holy hill, and to Thytabernacles. (Ps. 43:3). (1934 Tract 3 pg. 67)

    MARVELS OF TYPOLOGY.

The eye focused to the light of heaven sees that Jehovah God, the Super

Artist, has employed in the Scriptures every method known to mankind by

which to unfold the wondrous structure of Redemption.

    - And now while leading His people to the Kingdom eternal, He employs for

light on their way even typology -- the lives of men who have gone before

and the experiences through which they have passed -- and decrees that their

defeats and victories should be the saints stepping-stones over every pitfall.

And to arouse the spirit of men to a realization of His wonder-working

power and of their inability to foresee the future and thus to walk in the

straight path, the Omniscient One flings the challenge:

Produce your cause, saith the Lord; taring forth your strong reasons, saith

    the King of Jacob.

Let them bring them forth, and show us what shall happen: let them shew

the former things, what they be, that we may consider them, and know the

latter end of them; or declare us things for to come.

Shew the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye are

gods: yea, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and behold it

    together. Isa. 41:21-23.

    17/47

Who hath wrought and done it, calling the generations from the

beginning? I the Lord, the first, and with the last; I am He. Isa. 41:4.

Explain the cause, the reason, the significance of former things, He

demands. Tell us, what do they mean? What are they for? Can you predict the

future by the past, be it good or be it bad? Exhibit Divine power if you can.

Silence on the subject gives consent to the fact that only the Great I Amcan thus forewarn the generations, the first to the last. And He makes it

known that though the experiences through which our predecessors were

permitted to pass were for our ensamples, yet even these we of ourselvescannot correctly interpret.

But now at the appointed time, He Himself reveals their significance to thevery people for whom they were originally and especially designed. Thus by

the former things, the world of yesterday, the great and only such

Typologist has projected the latter end of them, the world of today:

At the outset of this typology, it is seen that the woman, Eve, who

through her own seed(the living church) is to bruise the serpents head (Gen.3:15), -

    16

    18/47

    - typifies the church preceding the Hebrew dispensation; next, that Hagar

typifies the church during the Hebrew dispensation; and finally, that Sarah

    typifies the Christian Church.

Following these, the typology shows that Melchisedek, the priest of the

Most High God, Who has neither beginning nor end of days, typifies Christ

our High Priest and His eternal work, and that Aaron, a high priest in the

Jewish dispensation, typifies Christ our High Priest and His temporary

    priestly work.

While constructing the typology, Providence brought Hagar into the homeof Abraham, and through Sarahs unbearable waiting for a son, brought

Ishmael into being. Thus was forecast the moral character and behavior of an

    antitypical nation.

For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the

other by a freewoman. But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the

flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise.

Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the onefrom the Mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar. For thisAgar is

    17

    19/47

    - Mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in

bondage with her children. But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the

    mother of us all.

For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry,

thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she

    which hath an husband.

Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise. But as then

he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit,

    even so it is now.

Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her

son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of thefreewoman. So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of

    the free. Gal. 4:22-31.

Clear it is that Hagar and Ishmaels coming into the household of Abraham

foreshadowed a flesh-born (not spirit-horn) people, the descendants of Jacob

(ancient Israel), coming into the household of God, not through spiritual birth, but through natural cause.

    18

  • 8/22/2019 Marvels of Typology, Allegories and Providences Through Bible Numerics

    20/47

It is also that Hagars rebellion against Sarah forespoke the rebellion of the

rabbis against the Christian Church, and that Ishmaels persecution of Isaac

pointed out the Jews persecution of the Christians.

And last, Abrahams disinheriting Hagar and her son, sending them away

once and forever, was a preview of Gods disinheriting and discharging from

His household the carnal minded Jews who failed to become converted,

reconciled, born again -- failed to bury the carnal body and to arise with a

spiritual one according to the promise.

Never, therefore, will the carnal Jew, any more than the carnal Gentile, ever with the saints inherit the Kingdom of God -- no, no more than Ishmael

inherited Abrahams wealth -- or ever have any part in His glorious promises,

except they be born again, born of the Spirit into the holy family of God(Rom. 11:23).

Having glanced through these three church periods with their varied

priesthoods, we now come to the second phase of the typology, and this we

shall quickly and even more realistically see as we now review the

typological drama of the ages with the aid of the accompanying chart, whichgraphically unveils the advancing truth and urges our compliance with it (1

    SR p.e. 56-60)

    19

    21/47

God has a law of type that where there is type, there must also be antitype.

(9 TR 72) Now, if never before we should see that where there is a type

there is also an antitype, and that where there is no type, there is no Truth. (1TG 47:15)The types are worked out to expose the error and reveal the truth.

The honest ones will shun the devil by embracing the facts, and by walking in

the light. (2 SR 255) Thus through types and symbols He makes wise the

simple and confounds the prudent by showing that where there is no type

there is no Truth. (2 SR 10)

The chief purpose of teaching by symbols and types is that the truth may

be revealed to Gods children and at the same time concealed from Hisenemies. (2 SR 10) It is not only wonderful to invent a lamp throwing out a

light of such amazing candlepower, but it is also astonishing how our God

can conceal His marvels from the eyes of wise and prudent men. Then in Hisown time He sets them upon high hills by which He is able to light the

pathway of the searcher for truth, and by its glaring power blindfold the sight

of the wicked. Therefore the people that doth not understand shall fall.

(Hosea 4:14.) Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in

heart. (Psa. 97:11.) (2 SR 253) Since the most exalted and promising news

of celestial glory was rejected, and the messenger unappreciated in both cases

    - (Old and Modern worlds), it is positive that whatever truth is presented,

regardless of its magnitude of glory, these scoffers of today will not believe,

and will thus bring condemnation upon themselves. (2 SR 245)

The SRod made it so plain, that Esau and Jacob must be found not in two

churches, being of one mother. (1 SR 54)Inspiration declared:

1 SR p.e. 63 Esau and Jacob being twins and the last in this line of

typology, they therefore foreshadow two classes of people living at the same

time in the church period subsequent to the one which Isaac represents -- the

last, the Laodicean. Esau, being the first-born, prefigures an Esauite ministry, who for as little as a mess of pottage forfeit their position to a Jacobite

    laity. (1 SR p.e. 63)

The SRod declared clearly that Isaac represents the Laodicean church. And

then declared: Further, from the time of Abrahams decision to follow the

Lord, to the birth of Jacob, there were 85 years. And from the

commencement of the Seventh-day Adventist Denomination, from its

founders first trance-vision, which was regarding the 144,000, to the birth of

The Shepherds Rod message, there were also 85 years. (1 SR p.e 70)

This reading plainly shows that Esau was born in 1929, and Jacob was

born in 1930being twins. And since Esau and Jacob of old were born when

Isaac was 60 years old, and the SRod plainly declared: It has been definedby the fathers age [Isaac] that the lesson is for a later period (1 SR 54)we

can easily comprehend that Esau and Jacob The childrens struggled

before they were delivered (BORN) (1 SR 54)such struggle commence in

    1871, on its primary phase.

The SRod declared clearly, that as early as 1871 the cessation of timely

    Inspiration declared:

TM 46 There are two opposing influences continually exerted on the

members of the church. One influence is working for the purification of thechurch, and the other for the corrupting of the people of God.(TM 46)

Let us not however forget that the 144,000 are not Jacobs but rather

Jacobites. (EW 37) The 144,000 were born from antitypical four mothers,

    24/47

1 SR 62 Let Leah represent the true church of Christ (Seventh-day

Adventists); Rachel, a sister church, but not the true (Protestant); Zilpah and

Bilhah, the world (religious and irreligious). These are the mothers of the144,000, and the way they (144,000) are gathered. But while the twelve tribes

came from many mothers, they were begotten by the same father. So with the

true--the 144,000. While they are gathered from all churches and the world,

they must be brought into one church, at the same period of church history, by

the same message (the third angels message). (1 SR 62)

Isaac represents the Laodicean church. (1 SR 63) The two compound

words lao and dekei, the one meaning people also speak the othermeaning judgment the two in one meaning the people declaring judgment.

(1 Ans. 11) And since the judgment are divided into two phases, first

judgment for the dead and second judgment for the living the last (1 TG38:24), therefore, the statement Isaac represents-the last, the Laodicean (1

SR p.e. 63), must definitely points out to the people who are declaring the

Judgment for the Living. There is no other people under the sun who

proclaimed such message except the DSDA organization. Absolutely

therefore on its perfect and final phase, Isaac represents the DSDA

    organization-born after the Spirit.

    23

    25/47

Remember, Leah is the legal wife of Jacob. Now, let us read...

1 SR p.e. 34, 35 THE MOTHERS OF JACOBS DESCENDANTS

Along the chronological path of this numerous-phased typology, we now

in thought follow Jacob on to Padan-Aram. There he took unto himself four

wives -- Leah and Rachel, the daughters of Laban; then Zilpah and Bilhah,

their respective maids. These four were the mothers of the twelve sons of

Jacob, who in turn were the fathers of the twelve tribes of Israel.

In this type-progression of spiritual Israel, only one of the four, Leah, was

Jacobs legal wife. Only she, therefore, can typify the true and legal church --the one which was organized in Jerusalem by the twelve-tribe kingdom, and

which finally evolved into the Christian Church.

Rachel must necessarily represent a sister church -- the one organized in

Samaria by the ten-tribe kingdom and dispersed with it among the Gentiles.

    24

  • 8/22/2019 Marvels of Typology, Allegories and Providences Through Bible Numerics

    26/47

Zilpah and Bilhah, being strangers and servants to Leah and Rachel,

must necessarily represent subsequent churches of Gentile origin.

From these four lines descended the antitypical children of Israel. And

what is true in the physical genealogy must be true also in the spiritual

genealogy. Hence, while the antitypical, like the typical, twelve tribes come

through both Israelite and Gentile mothers, yet they are begotten by one and

the same father-- an Israelite. (1 SR p.e. 34, 35)

Remember, Rachel is the sister of Leah. Such representation cannot be

perfectly fits in the days of V.T. Houteff. For if the SDA church is representedby Leah, then the DSDA cannot be represented by Rachel, for they were not

sisters, but rather the DSDA recognized SDA church as their mother.

Obviously, therefore the direct fulfillment of such allegorical prophecies mustbe applied in the judgment of the living-in our time.

All of these counterparts, then, are but another Scriptural intimation, and

confirmation, of the age-old truth that history repeats itself, and on a much

broader scale than in the original. (14 TR 6)For example, the SDA church

in 1845 they were represented by Jacob-

    25

  • 8/22/2019 Marvels of Typology, Allegories and Providences Through Bible Numerics

    27/47

    - (1 SR 75), but at the same time they were also represented by Isaac. (1 SR

p.e. 63) Therefore, the antitypical fulfillment cannot be limited into one

angle, that is why Inspiration definitely declared that it is on a much broader

    scale than in original.

Since our main objective is to find out the perfect fulfillment of such

allegorical prophecies which definitely point out to the living saints

[144,000], such Fulfilled prophecies are seen therefore to be employed by

the Scriptures only as groundwork for that part of prophecy which is yet to be

    fulfilled. (5 TR 34)

Jacob was born in 1930 according to 1 SR p.e. 70. In 1990 antitypicalJacob join (unite or became a bonafide member) the mainstream Davidian

(whose headquarters is in Waco), perfectly shows that it is the time by which

Jacob was married to Leah. For marriage ceremony is to join together.

Now, let us turn to another angle of allegory. Let us read1 SR p.e. 36, 37 Now, as Jacobs retirement from his servitude in

Padan-Aram ends with his returning home, the typology continues with --

    ISRAELS GOING INTO EGYPT

That the Bible reveals its tremendous truths in divers ways -- in numerics,

in symbols and figures, in parables and allegories, in dreams and visions, in

types and providences -- is even more fully recognized in the anomalous

experience of ancient Israels going into Egypt. In it every informed Biblestudent discerns, not mere happenstance, but purposive design wrought by the

omnipotent hand of Providence. Indeed, Joseph himself, the principal

character in the great drama, so avouches it: God did send me before you,he declares, to preserve life. Gen. 45:5.(1 SR p.e. 36, 37)

Let us not however forget that Jacob of old entered into Egypt at the age of

    31/47

Now, lets turn to another angle of such allegorical prophecy

2 SR 163 We quote from the writings of the Spirit of Prophecy: Thiswas the time of Jacobs trouble. Then all the saints cried out with anguish of

spirit, and were delivered by the voice of God. The one hundred and forty-four thousand triumphed. Their faces were lighted up with the glory of

God. Life Sketches, page 117. Note that the 144,000 in number, were

present in the time of Jacobs trouble. According to the following quotation,

that time of trouble commences immediately after the close of probation:

When Christ shall cease His work as mediator in mans behalf, then this

time of trouble will begin. Patriarchs and Prophets, page 201. Thattime of trouble is before any of the sleeping saints are resurrected, therefore

the 144,000 are not resurrected, but are living saints who have never tasted

death and are to be translated at the second coming of Christ. (2 SR 163)

2 TG 10:30 7. That subsequently, the time of Jacobs trouble (Jer. 30:7)

for the 144,000, the sons of Jacob, logically develops on their way home

(Gen. 32:1, 24) to the land of their fathers (Ezek. 36:28; 37:21, 25). (2 TG

Now, lets turn to another angle of such allegorical prophecy. Let us

read1 SR p.e. 35, 36Now as we leave this phase of the typology, we enter

    that of

    .JACOBS JOURNEY HOMEWARD

After twenty years of faithful service in Padan-Aram, in the sharp,

overreaching employ of Laban, his uncle, Jacob at last turned his face and his

steps homeward toward his fathers house in the land of promise.

But trouble overtook him. While grappling with his fears as to the

outcome of his imminent meeting with Esau there wrestled a man with himuntil the breaking of the day. Gen. 32:24

Here lay down the man Jacob and rose up the man Israel, exemplifying the

agonizing experience through which his posterity must victoriously pass

before they, too, receive a new name, pass from sons of Jacob to sons of God,

become Israelites indeed. Having gained the victory over this test, the timeof Jacobs trouble, they will reach home, the land of promise -- the happy

end of their long and troubled journey. (1 SR p.e. 35, 36)

    32

  • 8/22/2019 Marvels of Typology, Allegories and Providences Through Bible Numerics

    34/47

2 TG 35:25 To start with in Padan-Aram, Jacob had nothing but faith

and zeal. He was only a good workman, that is all. These qualities Laban

immediately recognized in Jacob, and as a result Laban not only offered togive Jacob his daughter Rachel for a wife, but even devised a scheme by

which to force him to take both daughters -- Rachel and Leah -- the only girls

in the family! Moreover, although Jacob dearly paid for them with fourteen

solid years of hard faithful labor, he in the next six years became rich! Then

on returning home, he whole heartedly, honestly, and with free conscience

    said to Laban:

This twenty years have I been with thee; thy ewes and thy she goats havenot cast their young, and the rams of thy flock have I not eaten. Gen. 31:38.

    (2 TG 35:25)

2 TG 35:23, 24 When we moved our office from California to Texas,

where we had neither friend nor believer in the message, the church elders

were glad, and thought our work would then die out for sure. It nevertheless

grew more than before, although this took place in the midst of the

depression, in 1935, while hundreds and thousands of businesses were going

    bankrupt, and while well-to

-do men were becoming poor. Yet we who started

    out with nothing, grew and

    33

  • 8/22/2019 Marvels of Typology, Allegories and Providences Through Bible Numerics

    35/47

    - prospered. We, moreover, never took collections in any of our meetings

anywhere and never made any calls for money. This holds good still. Then,

too, our free literature that goes out week by week amounts to hundreds andthousands of dollars week after week, and year after year, besides the cost of

    building the Institution.

And today after going through the nightmare of supposing I might live a

life of poverty, as I explained before, my credit is unlimited, and the checks I

write amount to thousands of dollars week after week, and year after year, although I am not bonded, own no property, and have no personal bank

account! Furthermore, I pay my secretaries as much as I pay myself and someof my workmen I pay twice as much. Yes, there are as great miracles today as

    there ever were.

Jacob, too, had no righteousness of his own but he had a great zeal and

respect for the righteousness of the Lord. Esau, though, who had no regard for

the righteousness of the Lord sold his birthright only for a mess of pottage.

What a bargain was Jacobs! As a result, though, Jacob became a fugitive.

The first night away from home, however, God met him, and having given

him a vision, Jacob put his whole trust in God and pledged to be faithful in allhis duties. (2 TG 35:23, 24)

that the honest ones will shun the devil by embracing the facts, and by

walking in the light.(2 SR 255)The Srod made it so plain that, where thereis no type, there is no Truth. (2 SR 10) Then obvious it is, since there is no

typical record that after Jacob stayed on Haran (Waco) for 20 years, he wentback again, such movement cannot be of God. The SRod declared clearly that

these are the only positive proofs and clear explanations of divine

    - calls, or messages of Matthew Twenty, embrace only the part of our worlds

history; that is, since the Bible began to be written; namely, from the

Exodus to probations close. But we must necessarily take intoconsideration the period before the Bible was written. Therefore, we must

have a multiplicand of universal value to show that Christ is the Savior of the

entire world -- both of those whom the Bible has reached and of those whom

it has not, before the flood and after. (1934 Tract 3 pg. 70,71)

Thus 120 x 5= 600 [the Bible times]. The Bible being 66 books, therefore600 x 66 = 39,600. Gods Word being intended for the entire Universe, then
