Martin Schaberl has been a regular on the Austrian jazz scene for more than 25 years. He has led numerous ensembles, toured and taught both nationally and internationally (Europe, USA, Brazil) and has taken part in the recording of various CD and DVD projects. After working for two years with a chamber music octet (jazz quartet and string quartet), composing and arranging music for big band and symphonic orchestra, he is now focusing once again on a smaller formation.Martin has fulfilled a long term wish by bringing not only bass player Wolfram Derschmidt - former member of Schaberl´s various bands, but also percussionist Klemens Marktl as new members into the band. Derschmidt and Marktl have played together for many years and are the backbone of the new ensemble.

The long-term guitar-bass-percussion line-up of regulars will now be extended with the fantastic keyboards and piano player Burkhard Frauenlob; thus bringing a competent colleague on board who can bring Schaberl’s ideas to fruition.

The challenge lies in finding the intricate possibilities of harmonising the guitar and keyboard, and consequently from the resulting lyrical and chamber music-like pieces and arrangements.

Each one of these globally tried and tested musicians are welcomed to teach and/or perform in all four corners of the world.

“An Austrian project and the new instrumentation will be revealed in 2018” – Martin Schaberl, 01/18
