The purpose of the proposed policy is to limit Styrofoam use and waste and to reduce the harmful impacts of the materials on our environment and residents. This funding is granted to applicants who can organize events that are compelling enough to stimulate an overnight visit to the city. Interested parties can access the grant application at www.sdtmd.org/applications beginning Tuesday, October 9 th . All applications must be completed by Friday, November 16 th . Martin Luther King Jr. Promenade Groundbreaking in the Broadway Heights Community The Broadway Heights Community Council has advocated for the construction of the Martin Luther King Jr. Promenade for several years, and I am proud to share that construction has started on Tiffin Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Way. This project will celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. King as well as provide a cultural gathering area for educational, artistic, and recreational activities. Construction is expected to be completed in Fiscal Year 2019.

Martin Luther King Jr. Promenade Groundbreaking in the Broadway Heights Community

Helping One Paw at a Time: On September 29th, PAWS San Diego, a program of the San Diego Humane Society, held a free community pet event at the North Chollas Park. They provided free services including vaccinations, microchipping, and dog licensing as well as free pet supplies and pet behavior training tips.

Hafa Adai: On September 30th, the Sons and Daughters of Guam Club, Inc. celebrated their 65th anniversary at their community center in the Chollas View community. Council President Cole proclaimed September 25, 2018 to be Sons and Daughters of Guam Club, Inc. in the city of San Diego for their efforts to preserve the Chamorro language and culture.
