Life Cycle

1. Female lays eggs on seaweed or debris so egg can cling on to it. Male and female die shortly after.

2. After they are born, they will sometimes swim inshore where they would frequently be fished.

3. Once aged, adult flying fish will swim in schools where they feed on plankton and other smaller fishes.

4. Life cycle starts over.

Contribution to the Diversity of Life

•Keep other species from overpopulating by eating them, eg. crustaceans, plankton, and other species of fish.

•Popular food in many countries and considered a delicacy.

•Used as bait for catching large fish like marlins and dolphins.

Humans interact with flying fish by polluting the ocean with trash and oil leaks from boats.These cause oil and trash to enter the gills of the fish which leads to death and maybe even to extinction in the future.

How Humans Interact With Flying Fish

• Continuing to keep fishing to a minimum• Ensuring proper maintenance of oil and gas tanks on boats

• Not littering in the ocean
